Before we go where we're going, remember where we've been.
147-43.
Four games, with an average score of 37-11.
That's how last season started.
I don't know how this season will start, or how it will end up. From what I've seen and heard, I think this team will, at a minimum, compete. That seems like a given, but last year, at least for the first four weeks, the Rams did not compete.
When a team competes, it has a chance to win. From there, who knows?
In the end, there are probably too many personnel issues to fix in a year. But I do believe the Rams are going in the right direction.
There will not be another start like last year's debacle.
Let's get this preseason over with and get the season going!Last edited by AvengerRam; -08-30-2009 at 09:07 PM.

To further AV's point, remember that Spags defense in New York gave up 80 points in the first two games during the Super Bowl year. It might take awhile before it all begins to gel ...

Yeah, I think what happened was the players stopped believing in what they were doing the first sign of adversity.
Haslett talked about that a lot. The moment adversity set in, the team seemed to quit. During the Washington game the announcers talked about that. Will the team give in?
That was where Haslett was able to make the team more competitive. Even if it was from a mindset, it worked a bit. We'll see.

Yeah, last year we didn't even compete in those first several games. However, even though we were losing again at the end of the year, the team was competing and playing hard. Two games I really remember are those Falcons and Dolphins games that went down to the wire.
I feel if the Rams can come out and compete this year, it will lead to more wins. Enough for a playoff spot? Realistically, probably not, but then again, you never know, and that's why you play!

It appeared as if many of the Rams' players were never on the same page with Linehan. He was never able to inspire confidence in them, and that came through in their performances- both individually and collectively. It is a new era in St. Louis and I sincerely believe two things: One, this team has the right guys running things in Steve Spagnuolo and Billy Devaney. And two, this team will fight like hell to win. It remains to be seen when we'll start seeing consistent positive results in the win column, but I am confident better days lie not too far ahead.
