And it begins: Rams will interview Fisher this week

The first NBCSportsTalk on the newly christened NBC Sports Network had a juicy nugget in the first five minutes.

Peter King reported that Jeff Fisher will interview for the Rams head coaching job this week.

It’s believed that Fisher wants to go to a place with a quarterback in place. St. Louis certainly qualifies. Fisher has close ties to the Rams.

Fisher’s agent is Marvin Demoff, the father of Kevin Demoff, Rams COO and Executive Vice President of Football Operations.

It sounds like Fisher is going to be back in the NFL this year. St. Louis gets the first crack at speaking with him and possibly making him the next Rams head coach.

Big reason i defended spags so much was i didnt see a realistic upgrade out there.

Never liked Fisher, his teams always seemed to be full of bad character players and thugs.

Yes.

They should bring in Floyd Reese as well, if they could get him out of New England. Not necessarily as a GM, but in a significant capacity of sorts.

I think offense is a concern though, if I remember correctly he is a conservative HC, but in fairness to him he hasn't had a QB during the recent offensive geared NFL.

Don't know about going for a HC before hiring a GM, but it's nice to see we aren't wasting any time.

It's a little weird yes, but the demand for coaches is very high this offseason with relatively little supply. We're moving fast, as we should.

At this point I'd have to agree with you. Nothing really stands out to me as someone to get us to the Super Bowl. But, is there anyone out there who does? I can't think of a candidate right now.

Demoff seemed to have squashed this rumor that he will interview this week; said Rams havent spoken to ANY candidates yet.

My suspicion is if they get Fisher first, they're going to give him say as to who the GM winds up being. I envision if this is the case, they could go after Floyd Reese to be GM.
