    Bennett bummed about thigh injury

    By Bill Coats
    ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
    Saturday, Sep. 08 2007

After a mainly injury-free preseason, the Rams head into the regular-season
opener with health issues. First-team right guard Richie Incognito (ankle)
hasn't been full-go for three weeks and probably won't suit up Sunday vs.
    Carolina.

Incognito, wide receiver Drew Bennett (thigh) and defensive end Victor Adeyanju
(knee) were "questionable" on Friday's injury report. Under NFL guidelines,
that means their chances of playing Sunday are 50-50. All three got in limited
work at practice Friday, as did safety Oshiomogho Atogwe (ankle). He was listed
    as "probable" and should play.

Bennett, a free-agent acquisition in the offseason, tweaked his quadriceps
muscle last Saturday. "I didn't think it was that bad; I finished practice," he
said. "On my way home it started swelling up a little bit."

    HOLT PLANS TO PLAY

Wideout Torry Holt is finished evaluating his recovery from knee surgery by
percentages. "I'm just going to play on Sunday, then you all can do a poll or
something and everyone can put down what they thought I looked like," he told
    reporters Friday.

Holt rated his knee at "about 70, 80 percent" last week. On Friday, he said: "I
feel good. I've been working really, really, really hard these last couple of
weeks to get myself ready for the opener."

    GOOD MEMORY

Although many seats were empty at the Edward Jones Dome for the two preseason
games, coach Scott Linehan expects a vastly different atmosphere Sunday.

"I'll never forget my first game as a head coach, the opener against Denver.
The one thing that will always stick in my mind is how jacked-up the fans were
and how they really carried us to the (18-10) win," he said. "I expect more of
    the same, or even better."

    RAM-BLINGS

The Rams are 38-31 in season-openers, including an 8-4 mark in St. Louis. ...
The Panthers are 10-7 vs. the Rams, winning the last three meetings.

Good thing Hagans looked so good in preseason, with Holt damaged and Bennett possibly out he may see a few balls coming his way tonight. Luckily we really have some quality depth at WR so a few injuries like these shouldn't slow us down too much.
