    Bernie on coaches

Bernie: Why aren't the Rams interviewing Saunders?

On surface, Saunders appears to be a good candidate -- I don't disagree with you who say that, and who question why the Rams aren't considering him.
    But ...

    what's wrong with this picture?

If he's such a strong coach and leader, why didn't the Chiefs give him any real consideration to succeed Vermeil?

Why hasn't he been a hot candidate around the league?

Why are the Rams' execs -- who know him -- so reluctant to get involved?

For whatever reason, and I don't know what that reason is, he's not held in high regard on a personal level. People obviously have some reservations/ issues about him.

The only criticism I've heard about Sanders is that he's very political ... and maybe that causes execs to be wary of him. I don't know.

    Post subject: Fisher

I did some digging into this last night and this morning...

Fisher's agent (Marvin Demoff) is leaking this stuff to float a trial balloon to see if there would be any interest out there in Fisher.

    But nothing is going on.

Kubiak had a sensational interview in Houston, and the Texans seem set to hire him. They're not interested in Fisher in any way; John McClain completely shot that down in today's Houston Chronicle.

As for the Rams -- they have had no internal discussions about Fisher, and he isn't on their radar screen. He makes $5 million a year, and wants at least that much to jump jobs. And the Titans wouldn't let him go for a cheap draft pick. It would be a hard deal to pull off -- in terms of contract and compensation.

i bet it would cost 3 draft picks which i think is worth it, i am not impressed with the list of coaches out there, pay now or we will end up hiring another coach in a couple of years, fisher is young and could be with us for many years.

    LOL

I think Gene Gene would be an excellent OC. He can show the offense how to dance around tacklers.

I would think it would cost us more in the line of what Tampa paid for Gruden than what KC paid for Herm, most likely because of Fisher's success and playoff experience. After all, Fisher has led a team to a Super Bowl. Herm hasn't got past the divisional round.

We have so many needs on this team that we really shouldn't be looking to acquire a coach when compensation is required to do so.
