I agree and neither boes Bernie, but I'm bothered that Garrett hasn't been ruled out. Bernie was told good old Shaw really liked Garrett.
If this is the case, we will see how much influence Devaney has because I can't believe he would want Garrett. I still think it will be LF, but it will be fun to see who Chip sides with.
Thing about Garrett is he already makes $3 mil per year as an OC. He's the highest paid coordinator in the NFL. So the Rams you would think are going to have to pay him something more than that if they bring him in as their HC.
Spags I think makes around $2 mil per.
Frazier would come the cheapest out of the three you would think. But Garrett might actually be the most expensive out of the three and he's the one Rams fans seem to want the least.
You'd think they'd have to like Garrett a lot better than the other guys to go that way.
Or, is Garrett so ready to get out of Dallas now that he would be willing to take a pay cut or at least the same salary to become the Rams HC?
I'm guessing Garrett gives a really good interview too. Smart Ivy League guy who's been around the business since he was born. Probably knows how to show them what they want to see.
I'm still holding out hope for Spags.
What is with Shaw? He always falls in love with an offensive coach. Ever since the Rams came to St. Louis, it's been offense, offense, offense. Shaw falls in love with these guys for some reason. He handpicked Linehan over Rivera last time, citing that it is easier to maintain the offense and hire a good defensive coordinator than to change the entire defensive philosophy. If we hire Garrett, I'll be extremely disappointed.

Maybe Devaney needs to sit at his laptop for 15 minutes and get a quick pulse of the fans reactions on the different candidates that are finalists. I mean, isn't one of his big ideas with the new coach is CONNECTING and reaching out to the fan base ? If he took the 15 minutes to give a crap of what the fans think he'd tell Shaw, "thanks for your pennies worth of football knowledge, I don't recommend Garrett ".
This would be a great way for Billy and Jason to start, reconnecting with fans !!!

I'm concerned that when Billy makes his recommendation and leaves the room, that Shaw and that silly advisor title of his leans into Chip and says "Ya know, Garrett really was more impressive than _______ in my eyes. If I were in charge, I'd go with him." I have faith in Chip, but I just hope he lets the football men make the decisions now.Quote:
