Re: Bernie on the Shaw Rumors
My thought is that we had Dorsey as #1 (or at least above Chris Long) on the PUBLIC draft board. That way, the Falcons, Saints, and any others would think "We can't take a chance on the Rams drafting Dorsey, we want him, see if the Rams will take (insert trade) for that pick."
I thought it was very smart, because if we had Chris as our #1 guy, everybody would know we wouldn't get Dorsey, and then we probably wouldn't have received as many offers (the Saints could have went after the Falcons, or the Falcons would not have shown any interest in trading up to our pick).
I think it was just one big smokescrean, and the Rams had planned on taking Long the whole time.

And you were pretty adament on your stance of Dorsey's injury history when it first arised at the combine based on a report citing "team doctors". Only after did reports from PFW and such come out to add more fuel to the fire did you use them in arguments against him. So, I guess we are acting in the same manner?
On a better note, I love the new layout for the site. Very nice job done.

Yes, again because of where the report came from - Howard Balzer through NFL Draft Scout, both of whom I consider very reliable. Had the report come from Pro Football Talk, I would have been skeptical about their accuracy. So no, I don't see how we're acting in the same manner. Again, I try to look at things with the source in mind.

The reason the board was tweaked? Simple. Because we had reported that Dorsey was the No. 1 player on the Rams' board (and by quite a gap), they wanted to save face for when they chose Long. After the board was adjusted, they had Dorsey and Long as virtual equals. It was easier to explain the decision to take Long.

sounds to me like bernie making an excuse for why he got it wrong

Re: Bernie on the Shaw Rumors
I've never understood all the wonder about after the fact stuff. Here's how I see it.
Fact: Rams drafted Chris Long
Fact: It doesn't matter one iota what Bernie or Howard says now about the draft.

Re: Bernie on the Shaw Rumors
This analysis has been kind of donkey-backwards, no?
The starting presumption should be that Shaw didn't dictate the selection. Insead, some are insisting that we should presume he did so, and it must then be disproven.
PFT had absolutely no facts to support their conclusion, other than the fact that Shaw arrived in town during the week. That proves nothing.
So, its not a question of who is reporting that it didn't happen.
Man, I can't believe how much time has been wasted on this crap.
