The Bernie speaks
On Bulger:

It's really pathetic the way so many Rams "fans" can't wait for this guy to throw an INT, or get hit in the mouth, or lose a game. He showed some guts today, firing back after getting slammed around for much of the day, and after throwing a couple of bad INTs. I don't know what will happen in the final couple of minutes here, but he certainly has a lot more character than loser "fans" who hope for him to fail.
Cheers,
Bernie

Again: Warner comes up here.
Why?
Why are you people so fixated?
Bulger didn't fire Warner.
You're insane.
Bulger just hit McDonald for the winning TD.
Too bad for you folks; your day was ruined.

Warner doesn't play for the Rams.
He's gone.
Hope he does well.
But please: GET ON WITH YOUR LIVES.
Bulger is the QB. Judge him on his own merits.
Stop the insanity.

Martz brings a lot of criticism on himself.
One thing he's always done well is keep his players playing.
They don't quit.

On Bulger's late QB rating:

In the 4th quarter and OT...
115.6

I didn't think #86 had it in him.
One of the day's most surprising moments.
Also another big play that may get a little overlooked: MacDonald's punt return.

Bulger goes to church.
It's OK to like him.

Wayland,
Sad to say, but you are right.
To some of these kooks, Warner is indeed their personal Jesus.

Wonderdog,
I don't give a dang if the Giants make the playoffs.
They're a NY team; why should I care?
You really do reveal yourself.

I root for individuals.
People I've met who have class.
Along those lines, I hope Warner does well.
But the Giants? I don't care.
I don't care about teams -- other than I do like to see the STL teams do well, because it gives me more to write about, and I enjoy covering important events, like playoff games.

Such fancy language, Wonderdog.
I'm really impressed.
You are so much more intelligent than the rest of us.
I don't have the time to argue right now -- or look up the big words in the dictionary -- since I'm trying to cover Game 4 of the NLDS.
But I'll surrender to you....
Kurt is god.
Is that OK?
Cheers,
Bernie

Wonder...
As I said, I surrender....
You're fine. I usually like your posts.
You do have a Warner hang-up though.
You are not alone, however.
I'm just being sassy.
Pre-deadline anxiety.

warner is an offense that suits him well. And he's doing a terrific job.
The other guy, Bulger, is in the STL offense.
This is like comparing what a leadoff man's SLG percentage is compared to the No. 4 hitters.
Different teams, different roles.

Wonderdog, my friend....
You overstate my position on Warner.
I just wouldn't allow people to make excuses for him when he wasn't healthy and wasn't playing well. Folks like you were trying to insist that he was doing well, when he wasn't. That's all.
Now that he's healthy and playing well, good for him. I am happy for him.
But the response of his many worshipers does reveal a remarkable degree of pettiness....and nastiness....and when I see that, I respond aggressively. I'm weak. I should just look the other way, but I don't.
For these nuts to hate on a good kid like Bulger simply because he isn't Warner ... they're crazy. And they aren't 1-100th the kind of person that Kurt Warner is, because he treated Bulger with respect, and tried to help him. But the Warner worshipers? Some of the most hateful, irrational people I've encountered. And frankly, I have no use for them. And I make no apology for that.
For the record, I don't consider you to be one of the wackos.
You're a Warner apologist, and that's fine with me, even if I tease you a little, just as you tease me.
Now....back to baseball.
Cheers,
B

That's why I see so many similarities between Rams '04 and the Rams of 2000.
There just aren't many playmakers on the defensive side.
