    Bernie--Talks about Zyggy's role

    BernieM

Zygmunt thinks it's difficult for a "czar" like coach to be successful in today's NFL.

As for Zyggy's role, I see him as someone who coordinates everyone in the decision-making process. I had another conversation with him off the air. The new peronnel director and Linehan / coaches will be picking players. Zygmunt will stay on top of the financial aspects of picking those players. Can they afford him? Is he being overvalued? Is there a better value on the list? Stuff like that. And dealing with agents.

Is it just me or does anyone else see a major problem with this?

Per BM, Zyggy will be giving input as to whether a player is.....overvalued?!?!? That means Zyggy is making judgement calls on what a player is worth, ie. how good the player is?

Let me boil this down....an accountant is analyzing players!

Hey, I've got my C.P.A., let me judge football talent. I'm just as qualified as Zyggy to decide who is "overvalued".

Who is qualified to decide a player's value, though? The front office guys who know business won't necessarily go out and get the best players, but if a coach tries to be GM, too, he's liable to make bad cap decisions to field a good team in the short run. Somebody has to be keeping on top of the numbers and dealing with the agents. I'd think they would have to work together to come up with a value. Just from this bit, it sounds to me like he is just going to be the guy keeping everybody on the same page and letting the real decision-makers know what the team can realistically afford.

He's been the guy who also has mucked up alot of stuff with the Rams. History dictates that Ziggy and Shaw don't have a great track record when it comes to personnel decisions.

    A football guy....not an accountant.

    Zyggy rates the stars
Crunching bucks for Shaw and Georgia
    Overspending he bars
With him can the Rams, make it very far?
Or will our beloved Rams, fall victim to his plan?

    Apologies to David Bowie
