    Which best case scenarios for the Rams hit this year

    There's always a lot of storylines that could pan out. Which of the following do you think are likely for the Rams this season? Pick as many as you like. Feel free to add any to the discussion that you wish.

    Re: Which best case scenarios for the Rams hit this year

    I chose a couple that were interlinked - the running game thrives, though the O line goes through its usual travails. Bradford stays healthy in that scenario, but doesn't quite hit 4000 yards - and doesn't need to. But with the focus on the running game, the young WR make some huge plays and show their worth.

    On defense Williams shapes the young talented corners, utilizes McDonald to his full potential, and the secondary becomes a real strength, especially behind the blistering pass rush that the addition of Donald unleashes.

    In that scenario, the Rams finish top 10 defense, but still make some youthful mistakes, and our TO margin becomes better, but doesn't explode like I think it will once these guys have a couple of years to grow together under a great DC. The Rams go 10-6 and make the playoffs.

    Believe Bradford's gotta stay healthy. This is a make it or break it year for him... If not the Rams will have to start over again in next years draft with a QB...

    Went with 2100 yards rushing. I don't think Fisher wants an offense where Sam throws for 4k. The defense will likely do all that stuff anyways but in order for a Fisher team to win we have to, imo, hit that rushing mark. Bradford and the line of course have to stay healthy but if we're able to rush like that it's a winning season.

    I picked Bradford stays healthy, Running game gains 2100 yards, Greg Williams transforms the secondary into a strength, and Dunbar returns to form.

    Wow, I feel like a Rams fan child in a Rams super candy store.

    * Bradford stays healthy.

    * GWilliams transforms the secondary into a team strength.

    * Rams top 60 sacks.

    Was tempted to say, "Give me one of everything please."

    Good analogies guys, but like most I had to go with Bradford Stays (and NEEDS to) Healthy! If not like some said we are at ground zero for a remake at the most important position on the field... Go Sammy Go! and by that I mean never ever leave the line of scrimmage again!

    For us to take the next step, which I hope we do this year, I think the first three are critical. That's what I've voted for.

    I also think Dunbar is a safe bet and that Joseph would be a very pleasant surprise.

    I chose all but one of the defensive options. All but the "top 5 yardage" defense. They would have to erase 40 yards per game, which seems like a pretty tall order. Not unthinkable, but tough to do.

    Now, on the flip side of that, I believe the pieces are in place, but as I look back Walton's coordinating of this D seemed out of sync. He seemed conservative when he should have been liberal, and vice versa. Blitzing didn't work, coverage variations didn't work, the soft approach in the secondary certainly didn't work. I think all that gets changed with Williams in place.

    The one issue I've got with the D is the learning curve - by the end of the year I think we will be a top D. At the beginning we'll be talented, but so many of these guys are so young.... We'll chase the QB, be aggressive against the run, but I think we'll give up some big plays, take some bad angles, and be out of position every once in a while.

    But I bet you they will be hitting, and just flying to the ball, and once they get a little experience that will make for a NASTY D.

    I'm not certain we'll make the playoffs this year, though I just got the feeling we are due, and a lot of that is because the talent level is up and that tends to make your own luck.

    But I am very excited to watch this team over the next 4-5 years. I think this team could be special.

    Re: Which best case scenarios for the Rams hit this year

    I see it very possible the Rams can steal a game from the 49whinners/Cards on their home field while playing a shutout at home simply because division rivals tend battle each other the hardest--its a given. Am thinking more along the lines of year one of the Fisher reign.

    Now its the other games that give me pause for concern. The best shot the Rams have is the Rams offense to move the ball and score--to do that they have to have 2 phases of offense working for them. After finding their legs in 2013 to run the ball, its not that great a question the Rams have the first half of that problem. But without an passing game to loosen a defense, much less get down range and into the end zone that has been my battle cry all of 2014--if an opponent's defense ahs no fear or respect for the Rams pass attack--it promises to be a long and frustrating season

    Re: Which best case scenarios for the Rams hit this year

    I went with Sam passing for 4000 yards. I didn't know we could select multiple ones, but that's OK. I think if Sam reaches the 4000 yard mark and hopefully goes beyond closer to 5000 yards it will signify so many other things are going right. For example the running game is likely to do well with a QB who can pass at will, the O-Line is doing their job, the WR's are performing well and our defense it getting off the field allowing the offense to get to work. Perhaps they are creating TO's or sacking the opposing QB or TFL the RB's. But best of all it means Sam is staying healthy. I think these things will for the most part happen and we'll challenge for a playoff spot. I remain optimistic.

    Go Rams!
