Best plays of the Saints win
I was not able to see the game this weekend. I have been watching for highlights and I have not seen many. I saw a small clip of Steven Jackson throwing a TD pass.
Can you guys write up some of the other good plays so that I can get a feel for the game and our first win?

Re: Best plays of the Saints win
Utter, my favorite was a Saints 4th and 1 with roughly 7.5 minutes to go in the 3rd. One yard.....three feet.....36 inches, that was all Reggie Bush had to get against the Rams run D. Surely God's nephew could muster 1 yard against this paltry run D, right?
The deafening answer was.....NO !!!
It started and ended with Clifton Ryan. From the snap, he held and even gained gap ground on two blockers. This halted the straight ahead lane for Bush. He had to make a cut. However, to his right James Hall had sealed off the outside lane. To his left, Carriker had slipped his slant block to the inside and was locked on to Bush. With no other choice, Bush cut to the right in an attempt to find room around Hall and his blocker. But lest we forget, Ryan occupying two blockers created a free entry way for our backers. Pisa immediately filled this lane and the defenders converged on 2006's Draft Day Deity.
It was beautiful.
And it displayed exactly what can happen when every member of a unit does their job."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Utter go to nfl.com and they show video highlights of every game played. Usually lasts 2-3 mins, not in depth by any means but it shows the TD's and key plays. It is good for a recap if you don't get to see the game..

Re: Best plays of the Saints win
The whole game watching Bulger was a thing beauty. He was razor sharp all game, especially on third downs.

Re: Best plays of the Saints win
That was a great stop HUb.....they showed it on the highlights. Marc does look very sharp yet again. It is good to see.
The highlight film of the game is pretty good. I liked Bruce getting a TD and handing off his ball to a vet at the game. Very classy as always.

U-B, also, RnD opened a thread, "Rams / Saints pics". Here's the link he placed there (some great shots):

Hmm, yes, same here Blitz. 'Must have copied, pasted incorrectly. Sorry.
If you go to that thread however (RnD's 'Rams/Saints Pics'), the link works fine there -- well worth the viewing!

Re: Best plays of the Saints win
This is a serious question: Is there one good reason why C.Ryan doesn't start? I could be wrong, but it seems to me that any time he's in there he does SOMETHING productive, whether it's take up two blockers or get a tackle for a loss...Glover won't be here next year, so why isn't C.Ryan playing NT full time?

Re: Best plays of the Saints win
If I had a video of all the third downs in that game and the scores I would watch it every night before I went to bed and be happy. Of course I would have the 4th down play on there too.

My favorite play was not during the game but after when Bulger said "We're 1-8 we are still a bad team". Loved that quote.

Re: Best plays of the Saints win
Not only is Marc Bulger a quality QB but he is also as honest as the day is long. He could have came out and said the usual stuff; that injuries have killed the team, and once we are healthy that is the production the offense would always put up, blah blah blah. But he said it how it is, if only all the players could have his attitude...

Re: Best plays of the Saints win
Big deal- Jimmy Kennedy used to do that on almost every play.

But in all seriousness, that play mattered a lot more because the offense took over there and scored on that drive. The stop was the dagger in the side, but the offense scoring was the twisting of the blade once it was in.
