Biggest Key to Rams' Victory?
There are plenty of reasons the Rams won today, but for me, the biggest of them all is this...
Turnovers that resulted in points.
The Rams won the turnover battle today, turning the ball over just once compared to Arizona's four giveaways.
Two of those interceptions resulted in touchdowns for the Rams. The Cardinals could not capitalize on the Rams' turnover and punted.
14 points off of turnovers, 14 point victory.
Coincidence?
Great win, Rams!! :ram:
Re: Biggest Key to Rams' Victory?
Whilst I agree with you I think the offensive play calling was a lot better. They seemed to utilise the play-action a lot better than they had in previous weeks.
Re: Biggest Key to Rams' Victory?
Halftime adjustments by the Rams on defense was what the doctor ordered. Night and day!
Re: Biggest Key to Rams' Victory?
^^ This.
Very impressed with how the entire team played after making adjustments at half-time. That's something we need to continue to improve upon. But, as a whole, it was a solid victory despite playing a rookie QB. We didn't make him look like a world beater, which, let's be honest, it's happened to us before. This could've easily been another trap game for us but we have now, impressively, beaten out the Cards this year! We've already beaten Seattle and tied (we won that!) the *****. I like that Fisher has implemented a tough mindset against our divisional rivals. Very important games and it's refreshing to see the Rams winning them.
Re: Biggest Key to Rams' Victory?
Both times the Rams have played the Cards, the Rams #21 has outplayed the much overhyped Cards #21
Re: Biggest Key to Rams' Victory?
The biggest key? ........................................ The Cardinals are **** :D
Re: Biggest Key to Rams' Victory?
Turnovers combined with getting the running game going. Now if we can play like that next week i think we can beat the Wingo out of the Niners.
Re: Biggest Key to Rams' Victory?
I am thinking it was Sam taking that hit that knocked him out for a play. Before that, he seemed tentative and not really into the game. After that hit, he woke up and played much better.
Re: Biggest Key to Rams' Victory?
No doubt, it was the D E F E N S E that gave us the edge today. Rams offense must improve.
Re: Biggest Key to Rams' Victory?
I agree. The turnovers were the difference maker. And the first pick 6 by Jenkins came at a time when the Rams offense hadn't gotten anything going. It's a cliche, but winning the turnover battle goes a long way towards winning the game.

Bingo, it wasn't until after he back in in did the Rams start to wake up.

What little I saw of this game (second qtr), I mentioned the same thing in the chat. I was thinking a modern version of Heaven Can Wait. :)

Re: Biggest Key to Rams' Victory?
Certainly can't argue with the impact of the turnover/td's, but the return of the wells, which moved turner to guard, also did wonders for our running game. Jackson was an absolute beast today and it makes you wonder of course how much better we could have done all year had we not been decimated by injuries on the oline. 173 yards rushing as a team! This was critical in overcoming our failure to score a td in three red zone appearances.

I am going to go with the pass, over the middle, to Kendricks for a TD... :D
