Bill Cowher as New Rams GM?

I hear all the time that Bill Cowher has no interest in coaching.
I wonder if he'd be interested in being a GM?
I'm not certain he would make for a good one, but the thought intrigues me.
I can't think of many other coaches turned GM. Parcells is the only one that comes to mind and he did not fair too well in Miami. Holmgren now in Cleveland. Too early to get a good evaluation on his performance.
All this brings to mind which should be hired first. The HC or the GM? It seems to me that the GM should be hired first to avoid any possible conflicts.
Thoughts anyone?

Althought the thought of it has me thinking, I really dont thing the Rams need an experiment at this stage.

While the idea would be enticing, I don't see it happening.

Re: Bill Cowher as New Rams GM?
The Steelers didn't have a GM by title, but Cowher and Colbert were the defacto personnel decision makers.

Can you imagine, if they could work together, Cower as GM and Fisher as head coach? Just give them both stupid money to make one hell of a team? wow...

Re: Bill Cowher as New Rams GM?
im just curious here the last 2 storied successful head coaches to become GMs are Bill Parcels with Miami and Mike Holmgren in cleveland and in my opinion none have shown any type of success...
When was the last time a successful Head Coach become a GM/ President and turned around an entire franchise?

Re: Bill Cowher as New Rams GM?
I'm the last one to pronounce on historical accuracy, but I seem to recall when he took over the Bengals in '68 it was as coach/GM/ AND principal owner. I'm not sure the expansion Bengals going to the playoffs within a couple of years of entry necessarily qualifies as a "turnaround".
But the point isn't about to quibble about semantics, but to state uneqivocally, now that Kroenergraph has done the first two right things, it is not time to take a step back and install an unproven into the talent evaluation/acquisition department. Bill wants to coach the Rams in LA?? Fine. But we don't need another experiment at this point.
PS Ferter: Verdict still out on Holmgren?? Don't think so. Verdict came in when he hired Mur-Mur ...

Re: Bill Cowher as New Rams GM?
Given what Mr. Kroenke has said about how the new Rams will be structured, I don't see Bill Cowher as a good fit. I believe Stan wants 1 person to be directing the ship. It also sounds like he wants a coach as well as a general Manager. If Cowher became the GM, I think he'd find it very difficult to stay out of the locker room. Too much ego. This new regime design and implementation is going to be very interesting.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!!
