Re: Billick fired by Ravens... OC?
That wasn't Billick that called the time out.

Re: Billick fired by Ravens... OC?
Whilst agreeing that Billick would be better than the current incumbent, I would be a little worried when people make excuses for his offense by saying he had a lack of talent to work with. Surely he was there long enough to influence drafts and free agency to improve the Ravens from just the boring grind-it-out team we saw more often than not.

Re: Billick fired by Ravens... OC?
Well, I know the defensive players like Ray Lewis have been frustrated with the lack of offense under Billick's reign, so maybe you're right, but that game was a special circumstance. They knew they weren't going anywhere this year, so that game WAS their Superbowl. They had it won and the coaches blew it. First by calling the time out and then Rex Ryan electing to rush only 3 on that last drive and letting Brady and the Pats waltz down and score the winning TD. I wonder if Billick keeps his job if they win that one...
Now, my original point was not to stand up for Billick- I have no opinion on whether or not he should be fired- can't say that I follow Baltimore enough to know. (Although I was hoping the Rams moved there originally because it was only a 2 hr drive from Philly!!!) My point was that the man has won there and as recently as last year finished 13-3 and was still fired. On the other hand- we have a coach that has gone 11-21 in two seasons- has never beat a team with a winning record (maybe one..) and gets a vote of confidence from our FO with an extremely important draft coming up. I just don't get it. Maybe Baltimore just has higher standards.

Re: Billick fired by Ravens... OC?
I think that's it. Billick was brought in as an offensive mastermind who was going to build a high powerd offense to go along with the defense. They were looking at something potentially awesome and it never materialized. 9 years to work with was more than enough of a chance IMO.

Re: Billick fired by Ravens... OC?
His biggest issue was never having a quarterback. He had a good offensive line, good running backs, Lewis and even Chester Taylor. He has a probowl caliber tight end. He got a little thin at receiver, but picked up a couple good ones towards the end. He just doesn't know quarterbacks. Lucky for him there's one here.
You have to think of the salary cap too. You can't maintain the best defense and expect an offense to match.

Re: Billick fired by Ravens... OC?
do we have enough in our cap to sign him?
i doubt it. we have to worry about players who can help improve then a OC without the pieces to the puzzle.Last edited by Mooselini; -01-01-2008 at 09:50 PM. Reason: screwed up

Re: Billick fired by Ravens... OC?
One thing that worries me considerably as far as Billick ... him being patient enough in front of Coach SL. I just don't see it as good Rams chemistry.
