Blog: Mike Sims-Walker set for free agency; Should the Rams take a look?
by: VanRam
Buried amidst the big news that owners and players will continue talking to save the season, there was an important free agent development yesterday that could have serious implications for the St. Louis Rams.
The Jacksonville Jaguars decided to let WR Mike Sims-Walker, hereafter known as MSW, walk becoming an unrestricted free agent. Is Walker a player of interest for the Rams?
Obviously, their ideal WR this offseason would be Alabama's Julio Jones, but it looks more and more like Jones will already be off the board when the Rams' turn rolls around at #14. That makes finding a free agent receiver a more viable option.
MSW would give the Rams a higher-end outside receiver who runs good routes and catches the ball well. In a lineup crowded with potential #2 WRs, Sims-Walker would be the number one #2. Got that?
As far as duplication, there aren't too many receivers whose roster spot is 100 percent safe right now.
Like the rest of the Rams receivers, MSW also has had some trouble staying healthy. MSW also did nothing to endear himself to the coaches in J-Ville either. Is he talented enough to get the four pillars waiver?
Re: Blog: Mike Sims-Walker set for free agency; Should the Rams take a look?
I say no. We have clayton, avery and amendola to be our 2,3 and 4 wrs. We need a true #1 and he is not it. Go after Rice or pray that JJ is there at 14. Otherwise it makes no sense to sign him unless you are getting rid of some of the guys mentioned above.
Re: Blog: Mike Sims-Walker set for free agency; Should the Rams take a look?
We may not get Rice, even though I believe the Rams are now an inviting place for any WR.:D It's anybodys guess where Jones lands?
All rookie WR drafted will be a work in progress?
So if we can get him for realistic price then Im all for it, plus he brings a good combo of size and speed which the Rams lack.
Re: Blog: Mike Sims-Walker set for free agency; Should the Rams take a look?
I don't think MSW is the missing piece of the puzzle. Yes, he would be a nice addition, but he isn't the game changer we need.

Yes, I got it. I don't know if I really want it, though.

I think Jimmy Walker would be a better addition. He has a long lean body and great height which will help in the red zone and his hands are DYNO MITE!!!!!
All kidding aside, i agree that we need a #1 and this guy isnt it.
One interesting point on the lockout. If there is a lockout that is not resolved before the draft, we will have visibility on whether we have jones or not before we have to make a decision on any free agents. This is different than most other years since typically the free agent frenzy begins well before the draft.

NO! on Terrel Owens
If the Rams thought M.S-W could help they would have signed him allready.
I'm still hoping for JJ.

Not true. Teams are waiting for the CBA to play out then there will be a big amount of signings.

We cannot sign him until this CBA stuff gets sorted out Shan. This is by NFL rule until the two sides have bleeding settled?
Atogwe was a rare acception to the rule because of his contract situation. If Im wrong someone let me know?
