Do you think we should we franchise him?
I am going to start off by saying yes. Because if we can get blackmon I see a Holt and Bruce type of setup again. And if we can't we still have someone that can catch the ball.

I'd love to retain him, but the tag is over $9M. That is extremely steep when we only have slightly more than that it available cap room.
I can understand if we are working towards a long term deal and we need more time to tag him, but unless we can give him something ike a $2M salary this year and $10M signing bonus for 3 years, making his cap charge $5.3M, I don't think we can keep him.
I like what Lloyd has to offer. Just not at the price a franchise tag would cost.
No.
I didn't see that much last season that I'd want to franchise him.
His pursuit of the Patriots makes it even less desirable in my eyes.
Don't want people who don't want to be here.
$9 million for a guy that is basically a journeyman WR.
That's one way to build a franchise.
No chance. But that doesn't mean to say it couldn't happen, though. Id like to see the Rams go the youth route at WR. Using the free agency period, draft, and UFA free agents to bridge the gap.?
While Lloyd is 10 times better than any receiver the Rams have that's likely to make the team next season 9 mil is too high a figure to retain him. That said the Rams will definitely need to updrade their WR corps because what they have is a joke.
Someone else created a thread and I will post the same thing I did in that one...
Stevie Johnson- 7-8 mil contract
Marques Colston- 8-9 mil contract
Vincent Jackson- 9-10 mil contract
Brandon Lloyd- 9.4 mil contract with the franchise tag
....I rest my case. No.
Had not heard it was going to be 9 mill to franchise him..... Um maybe I need to rethink this lol.
That is a pretty penny to pay for him I think I may have to retract my statement above. For some reason I thought they had lowered the amount you had to pay for the franchise tag in the new CBA. I guess that wasn't the case.
Guess I should have looked into the cost of it more.
this is a business decision of two parts: Ability and cost. ability is there but the cost is not... Maybe offer a 3 year deal or something?
He's not the guy you want to spend that kind of money on. His age works against him and he's rarely, if ever mentioned as an "elite" WR. So for less money I think we can sign a Mario Manningham and get a long-term deal done. Plus we'll draft a young WR whom we can groom with our other younger WR's and possibly have the type of scenario we had with Ike and Torry.
Have we signed a WR coach? He could have a big impact on the decision. I also haven't heard about any talks between BL and Brian Schottenheimer indicating a desire to keep him around.
Go Rams!
Well if mods feel like closing this than can. I wasn't thinking it was going to be 9 million to franchise him. Take away my one vote for yes (which I switched to no) and its a landslide.
If it wasn't so much I would be all for it.
