Brandon Lloyd on NFL Network
Telephone interview with Lloyd and very first thing out of his mouth was his excitement over being able to take a leadership role on the team to help get things turned around. He's going to have a young receiving group around him and they just need to be a little more motivated, as Bradford's only going to be as good as the people catching passes for him.
He also mentioned helping to encourage the Oline to help hold their blocks a little longer and I'm all for that.
I was lukewarm on this signing yesterday. But after hearing him speak and knowing the Rams may only have to give up an irrelevant 6th rounder, I'm all for it. Good job, Devaney. I think you finally reached base safely on this one.
Re: Brandon Lloyd on NFL Network
At least he positive, hope some of his attributes can rub off on some of our other guys.
Re: Brandon Lloyd on NFL Network
He's a really well-spoken individual. I was very impressed with him from interviews last year.
Re: Brandon Lloyd on NFL Network
His signing can only help. It can't get much worse. A 6th rounder is a very small price to pay for his services. Hopefully he can lend some leadership and stability.
Re: Brandon Lloyd on NFL Network
I am so happy for Bradford right now. Next year if we draft a WR they will actually for once be a strength. Bradford will continue his development.
He has 3 td's in 5 games. With Lloyd that number and his others should start increasing. I hope Lloyd replicates last years numbers.
Re: Brandon Lloyd on NFL Network
we basically got him for a pack of now-and-laters. Honestly, what's the worse possible scenerio? he drops passes? he can't get open? he only does short routes?
I see nothing but positives from this. I AM FREAKIN EXCITED.
Re: Brandon Lloyd on NFL Network
+Plus with the others coming back , I'm excited as well
Re: Brandon Lloyd on NFL Network
Mr Lloyd is starting to grow on me the more and more I keep hearing things about him on 101espn, nfl.com, and around the web about his demeanor and him as a player and person. I remember him as a 49er and he wasn't half bad back in the day from what I seen him in games. I hope this trade will create a reliable target for Sam in the redzone and spark this team!
Re: Brandon Lloyd on NFL Network
I wanted this to go down a couple weeks ago but it was a pipe dream. And once i heard the news i got a little teary eyed not gonna lie lol.But seriously im so excited hopefully we can resign him for future years and then next year draft 1 of the stuf WR's coming in the draft we will be good on receiver. And not to mention this is a good veteran that can teach our current rooks how to play.
Re: Brandon Lloyd on NFL Network
I'm pumped for this signing. Hes not a typical one year and done player. He's got the ability, and Mcdaniels pulled it out of him. Mcdaniels will continue to do so and Bradford-Lloyd will shine.
On another note im shocked about fans saying that hes over the hill because hes 30, IMO thats not all that old at all for a wide-out. He could easily have another 3-4 years of solid production.
Re: Brandon Lloyd on NFL Network
Whats NOT to like about this pick-up, he cost us a sixth, thats it, for a pro-bowl player...
Re: Brandon Lloyd on NFL Network
I just hope that we sign him to a modest 3 year extension sometime soon. He might go down hill, but we do need a mentor who can teach these young guys how to succeed in this offense, and he certainly went from zero to hero with McD.
Re: Brandon Lloyd on NFL Network
if the trend continues of drafting "skill" position players late in the draft instead of linemen. at most we have got Lloyd at the cost of a practice squad player.... i`ll take that any day of the week and twice on sundays!
plus with the name Lloyd,he must be Welsh! :)
Re: Brandon Lloyd on NFL Network
For Txramsfan: " Good signing, excellent depth" hahahahahhaah
Re: Brandon Lloyd on NFL Network
Brandon Lloyd has the best hands in the NFL, and the best body controll. I don't think I've ever seen so many circus catches out of 1 player than I've seen out of him the last 3 years. The guy can contort his body in midair to adjust to the ball if it's anywhere in the the area. He knows McDaniels offense from last season in Denver and will help you guys immediately. Plan on giving up a 5th for him. He'll catch more than 30 for you guys this season.
He's been a class act in Denver, and a good locker room guy. After leading the NFL in receiving yards last season he could have easily held out for a big contract, but didn't. We never heard a peep out of him about it. He's a guy that defensive coordinators have to game plan around, and what the Rams needed more than anything right now. His numbers are down this season, but that's more a factor of a John Fox offense and Kyle Orton being very ordinary once again. Good trade for you guys. Denver only let him walk because we're rebuilding and he's 30-something now. I think you'll all be Brandon Lloyd fans before too long.
