I've been reading that if it is a 4th, should he leave via FA, that the Rams would recieve a 5th as compensation.

That would mitigate the risk in my opinion. Lloyd for 11 games for the cost of dropping a round (roughly).

More importantly to me, Lloyd, DX, Salas, Pettis & Clayton are better than MSW, DX, Gibson, Salas & Pettis......IMO. The fear though is not getting that "blow defenses up" WR at some point in the near future for Sam. This may, falsely IMO, make CB look like a bigger need for next season.

    He can run!
    He can jump!
    He can catch!

All in one! I think thats what a good receiver looks like, but its been awhile.

    Can't be too sure yet.

Should be interesting to see what the Rams offense can do with an NFL caliber receiver on the field. I get the feeling that if cut, Gibson wouldn't be signed by anyone, DX would be strictly a backup and Salas would be practice squad fodder.

I'll be glad when Clayton returns. That should help greatly. Salas in the slot with those two on the edges should open things up a little.

If the rookies improve like yesterday and we end up with Llyod, Clayton, Amendola, DX, Salas and Pettis... I would bet we don't go receiver in the top of the draft.

I'm thinking CB, DT, OL, OL, OL, OL, OL, OL, OL, OL, OL, OL, OL, OL, OL, OL, OL, OL, OL, OL, OL, OL, OL... and I would probably add two or three more OL in Free Agency.

Danny this move couldn't come soon enough. I don't think a 4th is steep, look at the recent 4th round picks. Although this is the third year in a row the rams have spent their 4th on a WR. I still think they should get another receiver in the first round.

Last year Lloyd had over 1,400 yards playing for a HC that is now our OC... Don't see how that is washed up.

One good year in 10? He must be a gem in the rough.

He had garcia, a probowl QB throwing to him, and he couldnt even make him a star

They are cutting him for a reason.
You dont see miles austin, megatron or hell, even crabtree on the trading block.

Re: Brandon Lloyd is a RAM

Rambunctious, the problem is that he'd never even sniffed the 1,000 yard mark before last year, and he was "washed up" before last year. A one season explosion does not a big time receiver make, even if he is coming into the same system.

That said, if the dud(e) can actually catch the balls that Sam will be slingin his way, especially in the red zone, I'm all for it. If we can out gain the Packers in Lambeau, even at 0-5, the Rams aren't done yet with all 6 division games still to go.
    I believe!

think about this.. he could have gone to new england or san fran for that matter...

obviously he just wants money and doesnt care about a ring at this point in his career.

he is like 30.. he knows he doesnt have years left to watch a team develope.

brandon is GREAT at the crazy one handed sideline catches that make the top plays of the week..

but you get 1 highlight catch after 8 droped passes.

You dont necessarily see those teams preparing to go into rebuild mode either. If Lloyd wasnt better then most, or ALL of our receivers, then you'd probably have a good point.

Re: Brandon Lloyd is a RAM

The Broncos got their wish: Brandon Lloyd is headed out of town before the team has to practice Monday.

Jason La Canfora of NFL.com reports Lloyd will be traded to the St. Louis Rams. The Denver Post writes that Lloyd was told to stay home Monday because he was getting dealt.

We’re still waiting to hear on possible compensation. It doesn’t make a lot of sense from the Rams perspective at 0-5 unless they got Lloyd for practically nothing and/or they work out a contract extension for the receiver. Don’t be surprised if the Rams work something out long term.

Of course, G.M. Billy Devaney and coach Steve Spagnuolo may just be worried about winning some games to save their job.

We’ll be curious to see what the Broncos got for Lloyd. It may only be a conditional late-round pick.

Rams offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels coached Lloyd in Denver, and surely pushed for the move. It’s a fine bargain for St. Louis if they are able to get Lloyd locked up. And if McDaniels is actually around to coach Lloyd.

UPDATE: ESPN and the Denver Post both say a deal is not completed just yet.

UPDATE II: Adam Schefter quotes a source claiming there are a “lot of hurdles” left. A contract extension, perhaps?
