Compensation was negligible for a player of Lloyd's talent.
Combined with return of Mark Clayton, takes pressure off young WRs.
Shows the Rams that the Front Office is still trying to win this year.
Keeps Lloyd away from San Francisco (Niners reportedly had some interest).
Lloyd's transition should be nearly seamless given his familiarity with McDaniels' system.
If he is retained, removes need for Rams to take two WRs in next year's draft.

    CONs
Still must be re-signed, and could be overpriced (though the trade market might indicate otherwise).
    Is 30 years old.
Has a little bit of a "diva" rep.
Would be a negative if his presence caused Rams to pass on top WR in next year's draft.
    Would be
    Nice list Av!

I'm not against bringing in a guy that has a little "diva". Maybe that's what we need? Attitude!

In no way does this change that we need a true #1. We better take a wr in 1st round if Blackmon/Jeffery are still on the board when we pick.
    exactly...

    we've scored 49 points this season... 49!

    The Fins have scored 69..

The Curtis Painter led colts are getting 25 a game..

and SF scored 48 in ONE GAME..

B.lloyd might give us 3 more points a game...at most.

The front office is grasping at straws...

Lloyd is a good addition, not great....He has great hands, but we as an offensive are still UN-explosive and lacking speed. Clayton is similarly a "hands" WR and DX compliments Lloyd better.

I just hope Lloyd doesn't rip into John Fox on his way out the door. Even though I am not a fan of Fox as he really runs an offensive like it is 1986, Lloyd needs to just get out of there quickly and quietly.

Welcome B Lloyd, that will be hungry as he is probably playing for his last NFL contract..

So now that the deal is done, how much is the contract extension and for how long?

Re: Brandon Lloyd is a RAM

I believe the ***** and Broncos were trying to scam the Rams. This was posted last night :

The Denver Post reports that the ***** "appear to be showing the strongest interest" in trading for Brandon Lloyd.

The Patriots and Rams are "also in discussions." Talks will "intensify" late Sunday, and the Broncos are trying to move him before Monday's practice begins. They're still targeting a "mid-round draft pick." Lloyd is familiar with the basic concepts of New England's offense because of his background with McDaniels, who is now the coordinator in St. Louis. Lloyd's best landing spot in terms of fantasy value would likely be with the Rams, where he'd immediately take over as the No. 1 receiver. The ***** would be a worst-case scenario.

I think the ***** and Broncos put that together because obviously the Broncos want the Rams to give up more for Lloyd. I think the ***** gave the Broncos the permission to say they had the most interest making us think we have to improve on our initial offer. The Rams obviously didn't bite snagging him with a 6th or 5th round pick. The ***** would of benefited because we're in their division, and the Broncos because they want more in return.

    Makes sense huh?

Actually, it makes more sense that the Niners were ACTUALLY interested because Josh Morgan is out for the year.

Agreed. Plus the fact that they are actual contenders with lots of off-season potential, and want to give Alex Smith the best possible chance of succeeding, especially with Morgan's injury.

i disagree whiners were NOT serious about their interest. their fans thought it was a done deal. plus patsys look like ochostinko experiment failed. i'm glad we got him and right on time. we are 4 games out with all our divisional games still in the future. petal to the metal our 4-0 preseason team will reemerge especially clayton back.

with decent blocking and sticky balm for our receiver palms our defense will be on the field less.

we will rally around bradford and kick whiner donkey!

Obviously they showed some serious interest but not enough for the Broncos to send Lloyd that way. I mean, if they really were interested and "were showing the most interest" I'm sure they'd be willing to match the offer of a 6th or 5th round pick for a pro bowl WR....

YEAH, but if the draft was today, the Rams 6th round pick is 20 spots higher than SF...

Give Devaney credit where its due. If nothing else, this shows the team that the Front Office has not thrown in the towel.
maybe it's that or maybe it shows desparation and guys wanting to keep there jobs,AV, Do you think Stan played any part in this trade ? Having said that I like the trade, anything that helps to put points on the board is a good thing.
