Jim Thomas has also confirmed it and why I posted the NJ link is because at the very bottom of it you can read the Giant fans reaction. That is why I posted it....................

Nick let people get a little excited. Thus is what the majority wanted and there is almost no way Bernie could be wrong on this because he would be run out of town. Its showing up everywehere what Bernie said. Jim Thomas is saying he heard the same thing and that a deal has not been started yet but they thought they could wrap it up faitly quick.

Re: Bernie Update: Next Rams HC will be Steve Spagnuolo

Just to add something; Adam Schefter (if he still has any credibility on this search) just reported on his blog that the Rams have hired Spagnuolo and signed him to a 4 year, $11.5 million contract.

    WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Edit: there's a link to it at the top of NFL.com.

Re: Bernie Update: Next Rams HC will be Steve Spagnuolo

    Steve Spagnuolo
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Steve Julio Spagnuolo[1](born December 21, 1959 in Whitinsville, Massachusetts) is the 'reported' current head coach of the St. Louis Rams. He was named defensive coordinator of the New York Giants on January 2007, following 8 years under defensive coordinator Jim Johnson's Philadelphia Eagles staff. After his Super Bowl XLII victory Spagnuolo was considered for the head coach of the Washington Redskins but remained with the Giants with a 3 year contract of more than $2 million a year. The correct pronunciation of his name is Span-yo-lo.

After graduating from Grafton (MA) High School, Spagnuolo played wide receiver at Springfield College, and assisted the University of Massachusetts football team while pursuing his graduate degree[2].

Spagnuolo's defense, a 4-3 base (four down linemen and three linebackers), mirrors that of Jim Johnson's in Philadelphia with a heavy emphasis on multiple blitz packages, including corner and safety blitzes, and pressuring the quarterback. In New York he often used a smaller defensive line, with three or even four defensive ends—Osi Umenyiora, Michael Strahan, Justin Tuck, Mathias Kiwanuka—to further pressure the QB. The Giants led the NFL in sacks in 2007, with 53. They sacked Tom Brady five times in Super Bowl XLII, the most times he had been sacked in any game that season.

On February 7, 2008 he took his name out of consideration for the head coaching position of the Washington Redskins, citing the fact that he didn't feel ready to be a head coach. People speculated that he did not like the fact that the coordinators were already installed, but he stated he had no problems with them. The same day, the New York Giants made Spagnuolo the highest paid defensive coordinator with a 3 year contract for 2 million dollars each year.[3]

On January 4, 2009 he met with Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen to discuss the opening of head coach position in Denver.[4]

With his signature, Spagnuolo writes "HEB 11:1". Hebrews 11:1 is a verse from the Bible, and it says: "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." He did not realize that the verse's number was the Giants' road record, which actually set the record for most consecutive road wins, until a fan pointed it out to him.[citation needed]

Spagnuolo's name has recently come up as a replacement for Jim Haslett in St.Louis, Rod Marinelli in Detroit, Eric Mangini in New York, and Herman Edwards in Kansas City.

On January 17, 2009, Spagnuolo was named the head coach of the Rams.

Re: Bernie Update: Next Rams HC will be Steve Spagnuolo

I'm at a conference and actually had to borrow a laptop to comment here, so I'll be brief...

    YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With Shaw basically gone, Zygmunt completely gone, and Line#%$ and Co. gone, the Rams can finally move forward! Spagnuolo is a great choice, and I think the Rams did the right thing by neither waiting for a potential bidding war over Ryan (though I still think he would have been a good choice too) or for the Chiefs to fire Edwards and scoop up Spagnuolo.

    This is a good day.

People can get excited and follow the board rules at the same time. My job is to make sure posters are doing that.

Copy and paste new information, please. If you have an issue with the rule, take it up with Dez.
