Re: Breaking News: Steve Spagnuolo is fired.
Let's just hope that the persons the Rams hire are what we hope they will be. Remember, most thought that Spags, Devaney AND McD would move this team in the right direction. Now, everyone knows that hindsight is always 20-20. You know what they say about "be careful what you wish for", they may have just sent this team into another 3-4 year tailspin.
I wish Spags nothing but the best.Faithful Rams fan since 1968

Spags fired... I can't say we are the least bit surprised.

Re: Breaking News: Steve Spagnuolo is fired.
I found this comment interesting. So if someone thought that keeping Spags might be ok, then they are holding down the organization? Even though I felt it was time to let him go, maybe someone can put together a list of what I need to think and feel to be a better fan...

Re: Breaking News: Steve Spagnuolo is fired.
Rams have Dahl on the OL and that's it. Brown lost his job to career journeyman Wragge and didn't look good at all at LG. Saffold played very poorly before getting injured. Smith was twice benched for Adam Goldberg before getting injured. Bell was his usual mediocre self at G and is UFA finally. Rams' OL is one of the worst performing yet most expensive in football right now.
Almost all of Devaney's failings can be directly traced to the OL, from draft picks and huge contracts of Smith and Saffold to even bigger UFA contracts given to busts Brown and Bell. He remade the entire OL and what is left is Harvey Dahl, some humongous contracts, and a lot of holes, questions and cap-hits.
I also don't see two great DL. We have a stellar DE in Long and a guy with really good upside in Quinn who has a ways to go to be a starter at this point. That's not great. The DT's and OLB's are just as bad as pre-Devaney/Spags and add up the worst rushing defense in the NFL.

We had a strength coach? I would've never guessed.
Praise Allah that it was a clean sweep. Can't wait for the offseason.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Devaney, if you care about this team... fire the offensive coordinator!!!!

Re: Breaking News: Steve Spagnuolo is fired.
You are spot on with this O line and where it is... I agree with Billy's philosophy of building inside out. He just failed on so many level getting it done. With all the money he spent on this O line he should have also have made sure he had one of the best O line coaches working with them.
I'm a lot more positive on the DE we have.. Long has gotten better each year and is a top DE in my opinion his numbers back that up. Quinn for a guy that had missed so much playing time at the end of his college career to come in a shorten off-season played very well. I got to think he starts day one next year. I think we have a great set of DE for the future... DT not sold... LB yeah have to agree another strange move was bringing in older players and cutting a young Jabar Williams who had a nice camp and preseason. Devaney/Spags seemed to start making desperate moves this year. One of the moves was letting McD have three draft picks TE,WR,WR RD 2,3,4 it was clear these where McD picks. All three where strange to me. We already had a solid slot WR and we took two... very similar players. With the needs at DT,LB we go TE in the second RD.... Then the rest of the draft picks get cut as we add older cast of sub-par players.Last edited by Rambos; -01-02-2012 at 03:31 PM.

No more Steve Loney as OL coach is a plus too. McD I was rather ambivalent about, but oh well. Once Norv Turner gets sacked in SD, wouldn't mind seeing him as new OC for the Rams. We may not have a new regime in place in time for that, though.
