    Brian Leonard In The Offense

Although Steven Jackson has not had a large number of rushing opportunities, it surprises me that Brian Leonard does not have a single carry. Not one. He has been thrown to a few times, but I would think we'd want to see what he can do as a decoy or change of pace option as a runner. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

He isn't a change of pace back at all. Same powerful runner as Jackson. I am also suprised, Minor has been running the ball behind Jackson, and Leonard receives it.

Maybe change of pace wasn't the best wording, but I do think he'd give an opposing defense a different look. I agree it's surprising that Minor is getting the backup carries over Leonard.

Giving the ball to Minor instead of Leonard is one of the many confusing things Linehan is doing with this offense. If we arent going to use him, why did we draft him?

That's a good question. I'd be interested to hear what Linehan has to say.

It's simple, Minor is one of Linehans' cronies.

I don't think it's that simple, and I don't think that's the reason because if it is, that's a problem. My thinking is that Minor is a vet and Leonard is still a rookie, and that has something to do with it. Leonard may not be completely ready in all aspects of the game like a vet is to take the whole load at backup. Also Minor is more shifty/quick so it's a change of pace from Jackson. I would like to hear from the coach what his reasoning is.

Well, that probably isn't going to happen

Leonard was a great blocker at Rutgers, but I'm wondering if the coaches want to have a veteran in there who has more experience at picking up those blitzing linebackers, especially when it's Bulger's life at stake.

A veteran, that's the answer in my mind. It's the only logical answer isn't it?

Re: Brian Leonard In The Offense

Either him being a favorite of Linehan, or veteran status are logical assumptions. However, why not put them both in the backfield, have them cross in the backfield right behind Bulger. Then any one of the three could have the ball, and you have to account for Jackson at least. Could set up some great trick plays.
