Full article from Michael Lomardi:
Brian Schottenheimer has been offered the St. Louis Rams' offensive coordinator job and will accept the position on new coach Jeff Fisher's staff, a league source said Sunday night.
All that's left to make it official is for the contract to be completed, according to the source.
Fisher and Schottenheimer, the New York Jets' former offensive coordinator, spent Sunday night at dinner discussing the position.
NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora reported that Schottenheimer's interview with the Rams began Sunday morning, two days after he talked with the University of Alabama about its offensive coordinator vacancy.
Schottenheimer told the Jets on Tuesday that he wouldn't return next season after six years of running an offense that often failed to live up to expectations. The Jets quickly hired former Miami Dolphins coach Tony Sparano to replace Schottenheimer.
The Rams agreed to terms with Fisher to be their coach Friday, and the team later confirmed it is finalizing the details of the contract.
Here we go. If this turns out to be accurate, I'll cross my fingers, hope for the best, and support the decision.
I can't remember the last time I was this excited for Rams football in January. I guess 2006?
More facial hair. Check.
Long live the Fisher KING!
Nice, the best thing about this IMO.... we can get Bradford the playbook!!!
Fisher the hardest working HC!!!
How are Fisher and Shott friends ?
I certainly wasn't this hopeful when Spags was hired ... Fisher is a football coach period. No nonsense get the job done ... as for Brian coming back .. we will wait and see he will bring some much needed confidence and energy to what ended up as a very poor offense.
Im ify on this pickup. ? He has not done well with QBs, but maybe that will change under Fisher. Im giving all my faith to Fisher, so its a great pickup.
Great point. I feel like Shotty has gotten about as much as he can out of a mediocre QB like Sanchez.
Bradfords far superior to Sanchez in just about every way possible.
I'm excited to see what Shotty can do with Bradford, who excelled his rookie year in the same offensive scheme with mediocre weapons at his disposal.
Awesome, our offense will somehow be worse next year.
