Bruce honors Cris Carter with TD celebration
By Bill Coats 12/06/2007 4:34 pm
What was up with that unusual end-zone celebration by Isaac Bruce on Sunday? After hauling in the 8-yard reception, Bruce fell to both knees, lifted his arms skyward and then did a reverse spike, flinging the ball to the turf over his shoulders.
“That was Cris Carter’s celebration,” Bruce explained Thursday at Rams Park. “He always celebrated in that way. So, that’s what I did to honor Cris Carter.” With that catch, Bruce moved past Carter to No. 5 on the NFL’s career receiving-yardage list. Bruce has 13,911 yards; Carter finished his career with 13,899.
Bruce is an unabashed Carter fan. “Cris Carter and his body of work, just realizing that, it’s huge. I’m grateful,” he said. And if runs into Carter, “I’m going to give him that football,” Bruce said.

WR/KR Dante Hall is the 11th Rams player whose season has ended prematurely. Hall suffered a high-ankle sprain early in the year, then tweaked it again Nov. 25 against the Seahawks. He sat out last Sunday’s game, and after he pushed it in practice Wednesday, with little success, the decision was made to place him on injured reserve.
“He has a lot of swelling and is unable to cut on it,” coach Scott Linehan explained. “We’ll move to another option in the return game. One of the issues right now is we have Brandon Williams down (also with an ankle injury). It’s really not a very good time.”
That means that Marques Hagans probably will be the primary returner Sunday at Cincinnati. He’ll also be the No. 5 wideout.

Notes & quotes:
>>Marc Bulger (concussion) most likely will start against the Bengals, and Brock Berlin will be the backup for the second straight week. The Rams intend to sign free-agent QB Todd Bouman for insurance, with Gus Frerotte (partially torn labrum) nursing a shoulder injury.
>>Although Brett Romberg (ankle) is practicing this week, Linehan indicated that he’d stick with Andy McCollum as the first-team center.
>>CB Darius Vinnett, an undrafted rookie out of Arkansas, will take Tye Hill’s spot on the 53-man roster. Hill (wrist) also landed on IR this week.
All for now. . .

And play that long as a Ram...but I doubt it. Remember, Rice went to that team that wears silver and black.
