For me this is off topic. We needed a kicker wether bruce was here or not. We have saved space in other areas too. Did hall get cut to sign a kicker?
Our kicker retired. We needed another, we got one.
If you feel he is a bad signing/over priced then ok,
but I dont think the FO sat there thinking lets cut bruce to sign ourselves a kicker.

Re: Bruce released
Interesting how the website still has Bruce as a featured player on the website....while displaying that he was released.

Re: Bruce released
I have it from a source that I cannot reveal that Bruce did want to stay with the Rams and that they did renege on the deal mentioned earlier in this thread. Bruce disliked the Whiners from his younger playing days when they would coin their phrase "same ol' sorry a** Rams". Contrast that to how the Rams treated him recently and you can see why he actually signed with the Whiners to spite the Rams front office.
It appears to be as many of us suspected. Football is an ugly business.

I don't think he signed with the whiners to spite the Rams (although it does sting), he signed where Martz was. If Martz was still in Detroit and this crap happened Bruce would have been a Lion.
He likes Martz, trusts Martz, and knows the offense. It was a no brainer for Bruce since the Rams didn't want him.

Re: Bruce released
no doubt, I just wonder what # the GOAT will wear with the whiners? i am very upset the way things went down, but will root for the whiners to get down big every week, so they are forced to pass more, so Bruce can run up his stats to be #2 in everything eventually.

I would hope that Bruce doesn't pull a "Rice" and ask if he can unretire #80 and wear it like Rice asked Steve Largent when Rice went to Seattle.
I'm still interested in whether the Rams lied to Bruce about promised money or not.

I don't think so either, but the fact remains they cut Bruce as a "smart business move" and then signed a kicker for more money than any team ever has. With guys like Akers, Elam, Suisham, etc. still on the market, I don't see how the Rams' move was warranted. Of course, the fact that Linehan thinks Josh Brown was the best player in free agency this year might have something to do with it.

If I had to bet, I'd say that a jersey number isn't that important to Bruce. If Rice offered, it would be cool but I don't think Bruce will ask for it.
What number did Bruce wear in college? Maybe that's an option.

I don't think Bruce would ask for it either. Even if Rice offered I would like to see Bruce turn it down, the number is retired for a reason.
Bruce wore #83 at Memphis. They retired his jersey there.
Arnaz Battle is #83 in SF.
