    Bulger might miss next game

    Bulger might miss next game
Rams' QB suffered a concussion on Sunday.
    The Associated Press • November 25, 2008

St. Louis -- The St. Louis Rams apparently are close to getting their starting running back and left tackle back but the status of their starting quarterback remained in doubt Monday.

Rams coach Jim Haslett said Monday that running back Steven Jackson and left tackle Orlando Pace could practice and play this week against Miami but quarterback Marc Bulger's concussion potentially could keep him out of that game.

Bulger is scheduled to have a neuropsych test on Wednesday that will ultimately decide his availability for the Dolphins contest.

"Doctors are very cautious nowadays anyways so I'm going to base it off what the doctors say and then this test he takes," Haslett said. "Then we'll go from there."

Bulger suffered the third concussion of his career early in Sunday's game against the Bears. With 10:30 left in the opening quarter, Chicago defensive end Adewale Ogunleye burst through the line untouched and hit Bulger with a vicious helmet to helmet shot.

Bulger left the game just four plays in and did not return. Haslett said Bulger returned to the sideline later in the game and seemed to be aware of what was happening.

"I thought he cleared up pretty well there at the end of the game and he felt good," Haslett said. "I don't think it was as bad as the ones in the past."

Bulger's previous concussions have kept him on the sidelines for a total of eight games.

Trent Green replaced Bulger in Sunday's game and struggled as he threw four interceptions and was sacked four times. Haslett said Green would start in Bulger's place should Bulger be unable to pass the required tests to play against Miami.

The news was a little better for the offense when it comes to Pace and Jackson. Haslett said Jackson worked out Saturday and again Monday on his injured quadriceps and he could return to practice Wednesday.

Center Nick Leckey, meanwhile, will not be returning to practice this season after suffering a broken bone in his foot during pregame warm-ups Sunday. Leckey is out for the season and will be placed on injured reserve.

This is becoming a chronic problem for him he should sit no need to bring back a qb with a fragile brian with this OL.

Bulger's ability to skip town could potentially keep him out of this game.

This guy must be constantly looking over his shoulder by now.

I don't want to see this guy get killed anymore. Sit him the rest of the year or risk having a 60 million dollar man sidelined for good!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't remember seeing a penalty against the Bears until the 2 qtr, so how did a hit to the QB's helmet not draw a flag?

OH! I forget, it was a RAMS QB. Those guys are fair game for any kind of hit.

Like Rob Schneider said in The Waterboy, "Oh no, we suck again"
Seriously, Bulger should be sat out for the rest of the season, let him heal up and lets try again next year.

Hopefully Jackson and Pace will be good to go, because Green or whoever the QB is will need all the help they can get.
If the offense can get going again, I think our defense will as well. Right now, I think they continue to play with an attitude like "Man, we ain't gonna score, what does it matter?"

This isn't going to help us win this week. Miami has the sack artist on their side. Even with Pace back, our QB will probably get sacked four times total. It's going to get ugly.

If Bulger needs to sit, let him. He needs to recover before getting shot at again...

Bulger, play through the pain. If there was any moment where Marc had to lead by example and show us why he's a captain, this would be the time. We need Bulger because he gives us the best chance to win.

Re: Bulger might miss next game

What is up with our team's medical staff? Why do they drag their feet on quickly finding out the problem with our players? They knew Bulger sustained a concussion in Sunday's game, it was even more obvious apparently by Monday now why are we waiting for this neuropsych test until today, Wednesday, 3 days after the fact. Just like they screwed around with Jackson's "bruised" thigh. He was out a couple of games and stayed back while the Rams went to San Fran before they sent him to this specialist.

Shouldn't they see these specialists immediately so they can get diagnosed and speed up the healing process?

    I'm just saying..........

Re: Bulger might miss next game

If he has head problems, you DO NOT want him to play this week. Granted, Orlando Pace will be handling Joey Porter all day, there will be that one time. Nobody has stopped him yet. I like Bulger, and I don't want to see him hurt.
