A bunch of Olson news
Rams | Olson wants tight ends involved more
Thu, 11 May 2006 07:14:54 -0700
Bill Coats, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator Greg Olson feels one of the team's keys to offensive success is getting the tight ends more involved in what still is a dangerous passing attack. Last year, Rams tight ends caught 22 passes, a total that Olson considers "low for that position for the offense that we'll be running." The team drafted two tight ends, Colorado TE Joe Klopfenstein in the second round and USC TE Dominique Byrd in the third. It traded starting TE Brandon Manumaleuna to San Diego.
Rams | Olson wants to keep Bulger upright
Thu, 11 May 2006 07:12:46 -0700
Bill Coats, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator Greg Olson feels one of the team's keys to offensive success is keeping QB Marc Bulger, who missed a total of 10 games over the past two seasons because of injuries to his throwing shoulder, on his feet. "We're going to address how many situations we're putting (Bulger) in where he's vulnerable to being hit," Olson said. "Any time you put in a game plan, those are the first things that come about, protections. How are we going to protect our quarterback? Obviously, that will be a priority." Bulger will be allowed to audible, a luxury he didn't have under former head coach Mike Martz. That should allow him to check out of some perilous situations.
Rams | Olson discusses running backs
Thu, 11 May 2006 07:04:41 -0700
Bill Coats, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator Greg Olson feels one of the team's keys to offensive success is getting starting RB Steven Jackson at least 20 touches per game, with able support (10 to 12 touches) from backup RB Marshall Faulk. In 2005, his first season as the team's primary back, Jackson got as many as 20 carries just three times; he averaged 129 yards as the Rams went 3-0 in those games. Their record was 1-3 when he had 12 carries or fewer. "If you can get the ball to him 20 times or more, he seems to get better," Olson said. "We think that's a good number to shoot for. He's one of our primary weapons that needs to get (more) touches."

Re: A bunch of Olson news
I would love to see Faulk get that many touches per game. We need to keep him involved and maybe he will come back next year too.
He may be content after getting another SB ring after this season though!

Re: A bunch of Olson news
ok this was obvious..... I already know that if the rams want to have more success on offence they need to use TEs, more give Jackson and Faulk more touches, and to keep Bulger healthy

Re: A bunch of Olson news
We all know that, unfortunately our coaching staff last year didn't have a clue to running the ball consistently.

32 Rushes?! That's unheard of around here.

Wow; they're going to let the QB audible. That will be a refreshing change."We're going to address how many situations we're putting (Bulger) in where he's vulnerable to being hit," Olson said.
