The Called Back TD
Lets talk about this for a second. I have to say i was a bit shocked by what happened after the block. I have never heard of reviewing a play to call a penalty. I might be playing a little devil's advocate on this one and i dont know how the rule is written, but can coaches or the booth challenge a play if they see holding or pass interference that isn't called by the refs?

Re: The Called Back TD
You can't challenge non-calls, with the exception of too many men on the playing field (to my knowledge). this isn't the first time I've seen it reviewed, but definitely the most game-changing. No excuse for whoever was at fault there.

Re: The Called Back TD
We had quite a discussion about this in the chatroom when it happened.
A coach cannot challenge a penalty (or the lack of a call). The lone exception to this rule is 12 men on the field. That IS reviewable

Re: The Called Back TD
That's funny, when Bulgers on the field, there's only 10 men!

Re: The Called Back TD
I think this was the morale buster for the entire team. We played well until that happened. From there, we really fell apart.

Re: The Called Back TD
From the Super Bowl XLII play by play
3rd Quarter
4-2-NYG 44 (11:07)(Punt formation) 6-C.Hanson punts 31 yards to NYG 13, Center-66-L.Paxton. 25-R.McQuarters ran ob at NYG 14 for 1 yard. New England challenged the too many players on field ruling, and the play was REVERSED. (Punt formation) PENALTY on NYG-57-C.Blackburn, Illegal Substitution, 5 yards, enforced at NYG 44 - No Play.

Re: The Called Back TD
I remember Belichick challenging too many men on the field before, and he was right. After that play the Patriots got 5 yards because the other team did have a guy running off the field when the ball was snapped.

Re: The Called Back TD
I think the league should allow the Rams 12 men on the field at all times, when they put 11 out there nothing good happens add that extra guy and just like that a touchdown, maybe Spags can call the league office tommorrow and look into that.
