I was thinking if the Rams don't want Moss, can they still pick him off the waiver wire and then trade him to a contender for a draft pick (say a 5th rounder)? Not sure if that is allowed.

We are after the trade deadline so NO.
Otherwise I'd be wondering if we might not be able to get the Vikings to trade another 3rd rounder for him.
