    Can't believe we all forgot

With all the Greg Williams and real estate discussion yesterday, we all forgot about what happend 14 years ago yesterday. Let's all take a minute and think back to 1/30/1999. What were you doing that day?

Solidified my loyalty to the St. Louis Rams after watching the NFL/Rams for a year to two as a kid.

The final play of Super Bowl XXXIV (also known as The Tackle and One Yard Short) occurred January 30, 2000, in the game between the St. Louis Rams and the Tennessee Titans. Rams linebacker Mike Jones tackled Titans wide receiver Kevin Dyson at the one-yard line, preserving the Rams' 23–16 victory.

I was at a friends house in Brockton, Massachusetts watching the game with 4 other guys. 3 of which are die-hard Giants fans but were pulling for the RAMS. The 4th person a Patriots fan was pulling for the Titans and sat right next to me. I nearly knocked him over when Bruce caught the long TD pass as I jumped up and shouted YES!!!!!!!

I was at a friends house in Newport Beach, with about 15 other people, all but 1 rooting for Tennessee, simply because my buddy and I were die hard Rams fans, which all these friends took great joy in mocking every chance they got.

Obviously, I was having a good time early, and so was my buddy. We were sitting on a couch, and my buddies girlfriend came over and sat down, then things started going downhill as the Titans came back. We asked her to move, and she was not happy, but it worked, because Warner hit Bruce for the TD, and Jones made the tackle.

The end of the game is a moment frozen in time for me. First uncertainty, them screams of joy as my buddy and I jumped up and down in an embrace after realizing the Rams had just won the Super Bowl. Needless to say, the other people in the room were not happy, and the only thing someone could say was, "You guys weren't jumping in unison.", to which I said "SO WHAT, THE RAMS JUST WON THE SUPER BOWL!!!!".

I'll bet Jeff Fisher knew what day it was.

Momentous day for me. I remember asking myself if I was dreaming. We'll get back there, of that I'm confident.

    Go Rams!

Re: Can't believe we all forgot

I made the mistake early in the season of telling a buddy I would go to his house about 35 miles away from mine to watch the game. Had I had known the Rams would have been in the superbowl I would have locked myself in my own house and watched it alone. Needless to say I sat glued to the tv as those around me carried on in the normal manner. After the "stop" I could only repeat out loud for several minutes "The Rams won the superbowl, the Rams won the Superbowl.." Something I had wanted to say for so long and finally could.
"The disappointment of losing is huge!"

Re: Can't believe we all forgot

I was at home in Richmond, VA in one of the worst snow storms ever. The only TV that I could get reception on was a small Black and white. That was the only one I had with an antenna the others had cable which out because of the weather. Right before half time the power went out, so I loaded up my 4 year old daughter and her mother into the car and drove through snow & ice, to my girlfriends sister's house just in time to see the second half kick off! Thank goodness for the long half time show!
