The St. Louis Rams are expected to hire Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach, Pat Shurmur, as their offensive coordinator, a league source told Scout.com.
Shurmur has been working with the quarterbacks with Philadelphia since 2002.
Shurmur has worked closely with Donovan McNabb since 2002 and team sources said Shurmur did a nice job with McNabb, A.J. Feeley, and Jeff Garcia over his seven years coaching the quarterbacks.
Scout.com also has learned St. Louis is expected to hire Carolina Panthers linebackers coach, Ken Flajole, as their new defensive coordinator.

When Ken Flajole was mentioned as a possible canditate, i thought the rams have to get this guy, the job he has done with the Panther's LBs is just incredible. I hope this is true!!

And once again, the incredible talents of Larry Marmie go ignored.

There's something to be said about assembling a staff of coaches from teams like the Giants, Eagles and Panthers. These are teams that have had consistent success on the strength of good defenses and the ability to run the ball.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Sounds good to me. Like we've all been saying, when football people run the organization, they get the right people in here.

Always and Forever a fan of the St. Louis Rams

Its means nothing unless we get better talent. I am happy with these selections, but i was just as happy with haslett as DC and Saunders as OC and look how that turned out. Without talent, coaching wont mean all that much. Have i mentioned that before?
Meanwhile, i am bummed that we are going to terminate Henry Ellard as wide receivers coach. Maybe he will be retained by spags.

Re: Caplan: Sources say Rams to hire Shurmur as OC, Flajole as DC
The more I thought about it the more I like Flajole.
Obviously Spangnuolo has worked in Philadelphia and New York, so he can tab coaches from the Eagles and Giants who have had respectively good to great defenses. Which means you have a good coaching staff, and that's what they had.
And now Flajole, who works for the Panthers, who have always had good defenses it seems.
So now, with these two guys we're can pull coaches from the Eagles, Panthers, and Giants as well.
Three good-great organizations and hopefully being able to do that will quickly make us a great organization.Last edited by RamsFan16; -01-20-2009 at 04:44 PM. Reason: spelling error-

Great coaches will NOT tolerate meodacre talent and/or efforts. As "Spags" said yesterday it will be "leave your egos in your car. Here its all about this team" Good coaches WILL produce and nourish good talent AND will attract football players who want to play for a winner and will produce 1000% efforts for those coaches
There IS a new day in Rams football in St. Louis. It bwill take time, so temper your patience, BUT I LOVE THIS NEW BEGINNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
