Carter resigns ..
Carter returns to Rams
By Jim Thomas
ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
03/12/2008
Less than two weeks ago, the Rams declined to make a tender offer to restricted free agent Jerome Carter, thereby freeing him to sign with any team — no strings attached.
But in a move to bolster the Rams’ depth at safety, Carter has re-signed with the team. Contract details weren’t immediately available. Carter was a fourth-round pick by the Rams in 2005. He has appeared in 33 games, including three starts with the Rams, over three seasons.
Carter’s 2007 season ended Oct. 7, when he suffered a fractured right foot against Arizona.

Re: Carter resigns ..
I would still like to see a starter being drafted...
But its good to have depth and special team players.

Re: Carter resigns ..
Nothing wrong with a little extra depth. He's made some nice plays here and there.

Re: Carter resigns ..
I'm definitely glad to see them keeping Carter for the purpose of depth, however, I would sure like to see them address this position in the draft. While he did show some promise in the 2005 season, he showed no real improvement the following year and his early injury last season did nothing to help his cause. I would like to see a bit more speed, and of course hard hitting, at this position, because we've been missing it for quite a while.

Re: Carter resigns ..
Never the less, this does give us the four we had last year again, and I wouldn't be surprised if this is the last we see of this position except for camp bodies.
If the safety class wasn't so bad, I'd think we should draft one, but by the time we get around to it(4th, 5th round maybe after OT, DE, WR, DE2?) they won't be any better than Carter is. I think we're stuck looking next year for one.

Re: Carter resigns ..
RE-SIGNED... not RESIGNED.
2 similar words with distinctly different meanings...

Re: Carter resigns ..
i HAD REALLY HIGH HOPES FOR THIS KID WHEN HE WAS DRAFTED . oops . anyway , he seems to make progress every year but ends up getting hurt . the plus, very good ST player and a decent 4th S . the bad , was suppose to be this big hitter style and we havn't seen it . gets hurt too much . this year is put up or shut up time for him .

Well, it's not as bad as me thinking "Kevin" Carter.

Re: Carter resigns ..
It's not unfortunate if you realize that that's actually his lung popping out of his chest... oh wait, that would be unfortunate. Ok, it's bad.
