Chris Johnson to be cut after the season, Do we want or need him on the Rams?

Per Yahoo sports, Chris Johnson will be cut by the Titans after the season.
Since he played for coach Fisher and had his best years under him, would the Rams want to take a flyer on him? Let the thoughts commence!

If he is going to use that speed to play corner, he might be a great addition. At running back, no. We have bigger needs from a cap perspective.

I think it would be foolish to not take a look at him. I don't think he will demand too much money unless a team falls in love with his speed and pays him. If he's cheap enough, he's definitely a good fit for the Rams.

He would be a perfect compliment to Stacy and Cunningham's style of play and he still has that breakaway speed. If we signed him, we could forget about RB at the draft. Not to mention, Fisher drafted him out of college and we all know how much players love to play for Fisher. Maybe they reunite.

If we did sign Johnson, I would think that would mean farewell to Richardson and Pead.

In theory it makes sense (coaching history, scheme similarities), but we'll be right up against the cap this off-season, and we won't have room for him. He doesn't seem like the type of guy who will take a sensible contract either.

Besides, Stacy is running just fine for us. I'll take his 5th round contract for the next couple of years over the gamble of Johnson returning to form.

I wouldn't mind Johnson. He would look great warming the bench for Stacy. Well except those grills.

Nope. He's on the tail end of his career. Maybe if he was a little bit younger. But the Rams need to build around Zak Stacy.

I have long loved CJ2Ks game, and would be very interested in watching him play every week. However, I do not foresee this happening unless he is willing to take a cap-friendly contract, AND be fine with not being "the guy".

Wouldn't this be a FA thread?

I think you always kick the tires on a player who's had tremendous success in the league, is still relatively young and comes relatively cheap.

Don't have any idea how much it would take to sign him, but if the price is right he certainly can't hurt.

Also, since Pead is likely gone anyway, he'd be the perfect replacement IMO.

Johnson, Austin and Givens lined up on offense would scare the bejeezus out of any defense.
