Chris Johnson out at the 1?
Other than the error when he stepped out accidently at the 1 yard line which I think was a close call I mean he couldn't have touched it and it would have stopped there OR he could have touched it or had it right there but to me that looked like it was already out of bounds. BUT what is your take on that?

Re: Chris Johnson out at the 1?
My Take:
MAJOR BONEHEAD PLAY!!!
Let the ball go where it was headed...
Out of Bounds
No excuse for a NFL return man to make that kind of mistake!!

Re: Chris Johnson out at the 1?
I almost think that Mike Martz was sitting at the breakfast table on Sunday, eating his Count Chockula, and thought to himself "hey, why not have that new guy return kicks!"
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Chris Johnson out at the 1?
It was definitely fruit loops, and he's had way to much this offseason with that newly expanded gut of his...
Ligashesky(?) definitely made a mistake to put him in their. I agree, like with all Ram decisions, that this was a risk/reward decision that they did not go conservative on. I can't blame him for trying this, but given what happened, it turned out to be a bad decision.
I still have to blame Mike Martz for the special teams. This is not a complicated scenario, rather comes down to blocking and tackling, which reflect the overall attitude of the team. This apparently is acceptable. Martz may say otherwise till he's blue in the face, but if it were unacceptable it would be resolved by now.

Absolutely. You can only say "we'll fix that" so many times before it loses all credibility.

Re: Chris Johnson out at the 1?
Well, he really hadn't played much due to injuries. However, I just wish he would have stayed in the end zone. One more bounce, and down the ball.

...or better yet, let the ball roll out of bounds where it looked like it was heading. I see that as a 39 yard mistake.Well, he really hadn't played much due to injuries. However, I just wish he would have stayed in the end zone. One more bounce, and down the ball.

Re: Chris Johnson out at the 1?
Maybe, maybe not. On that first drive that started at the 1, we gained 55 yards and punted at the niners 44. IF (and I hate even using that word, but) IF the ball went out of bounds and we made the same drive, Wilkins attempts a 22 yard FG at the niners 5 instead of Hodges punting at the 44. Those 3 points may have made the difference.

Re: Chris Johnson out at the 1?
AND THEN the Martz chaser (he had to see he was out of bounds from where he was standing), RED FLAG; CHALLENGE; BURNED TIMEOUT.
BEFORE THE FIRST PLAY OF THE GAME!
manoman.

Re: Chris Johnson out at the 1?
The point of the challenge was field position. If the replay showed that Johnson had one foot out of bounds WHEN he fielded the ball, the Rams by rule would get the ball at the 40 instead of the 1 due to the rule being the ball was kicked out of bounds.
