Chris Long is doing a lot of listening in his first month as a St. Louis Ram. The former Cavalier is turning to veterans for guidance, and looking to become an integral part of the Rams' defense. Long is listed as a defensive end, but may also play some nose tackle or linebacker as well.

Long took part in both rookie camp and mini camp, the latter of which he spent a lot of time around Leonard Little, an eleven year veteran on the Rams' defense. The former Virginia star is looking to adjust to playing football in the NFL.

Something that did not take Long's new coaches long to notice is his ability to listen and learn. Rams personnel says that they like the way Long plays football with a 100 miles per hour mentality, and the number two overall pick is expected to do big things.

Click on the above video link to hear Long's thoughts on adjusting to the NFL.

You don't hear that in the NFL very often. The man is versatile.

Wow that is great. Leonard Little was such a good player in his prime, and knows how to get the job done. Long is a smart guy, lets just get him signed.

Excellent news about his listening and learning. Most important part of being a rookie in the NFL, in my opinion.

I think he also can play DE in 3-4 scheme. I'm not saying I want a 3-4 defense but in some package it could be useful. I like versatile player a lot, that often means they are good football player and know how to play the game.

yeah i watched them talk about him on the NFL Network, and theyre saying hes doing alot of asking questions to the veterans and learning. thats a rookie needs to do. the pro level is much different then the college level. hope he succeeds cause this guy has alot of potential.

And throw in the life long guidance from his dad Howie too!

After Long is done learning and listening from Leonard Little maybe Long can go hang out with Alex (False Start) Barron. Barron needs help in the listening department big time!
