Re: Chris Long vs Glenn Dorsey vs Vernon Gholston

i guess with the Dorsey stats, they must have just run into him or something as from what ive seen of him so far..he looks to be out of shape and hasn`t been able to get any pressure up the middle...Long has adjusted to the NFL a lot quicker for sure..Long may his progress continue!

Which is why he was the right pick, because he has and will adjust faster, as well as being an overall better player.

Re: Chris Long vs Glenn Dorsey vs Vernon Gholston

Dorsey also plays DT, so it's not a completely fair comparison. As for Gholston, I wasn't a big fan of his, so I definately wanted Long over him.

Re: Chris Long vs Glenn Dorsey vs Vernon Gholston

Great point by the Fabulous Moloch. You cant compare the tackle stats of a DT vs a DE. I agree with the point that Long has exceeded expectations to date and will be a pro bowler.

As i said on draft day, we may be sorry some day that we passed on Dorsey, but we will NEVER be sorry that chirs long is a Ram. That's still my story, and i am sticking to it.

ramming speed to all

Re: Chris Long vs Glenn Dorsey vs Vernon Gholston

As an outsider, I thought Chris Long was the "right pick" for you guys all along.....as a younger NFL fan, I used to be infatuated with all the speed/strength guys but after years and years of seeing those "great athletes" fail in the NFL - I am now a firm believer in drafting tough hard-nosed football players - granted Chris Long is fast for his size and very agile - but does not compare to Gholston........However, Chris Long is the superior football player and his career will dwarf Vernon Gholstons.....

Re: Chris Long vs Glenn Dorsey vs Vernon Gholston

Mean while.....

Long's RAMS are 0-3
Dorsey's Chiefs are 0-3
Gholston's Jets are 1-2

Welcome to the NFL...............

GO RAMS!!!!!!

He's gotta be let on the field to show what he's got. Apparently he ripped the Seattle coverage to shreds when he got out there... catching most everything that he could be expected to catch, and being wide open for a TD that wasn't thrown to him.

Eddie Royal and Desean Jackson are both being played by their respective clubs, they've been given the opportunities. So far, Scott "I'm scared, will you hold me?" Linehan has been too frightened of what might happen if he plays the rookies too much, other than Long.

And of course Long has sucked horribly, racking up half our total sacks(1 of 2) and being a beast in Seattle. Oh no, the rookies might make us lose the game! Oh wait, Linny's got that taken care of by himself.

Re: Chris Long vs Glenn Dorsey vs Vernon Gholston

Spot on, TekeRam. If Linehan had any cojones, he'd be fielding more rookies: Roy Schuening, for example, can't be any worse than Cogs has been this year.

Long has done well so far but the crucial question being asked at Draft time was about his upside. Surely, being taught by a Hall Of Famer, he already knew most things? well, judging by the way that he's improved week on week, he looks as though there's plenty of upside to him.... let's just hope that he doesn't get dejected, like many of the players around him.

Yep, Long is a DE, Dorsey is a DT and Gholston is a LB, so the comparison isn't apples to apples, but I posted these stats for discussion and as an indicator of what these guys are doing. So far I'm happy with the decision my team made.
