Clan Confessions: What do you want to atone for?

At this time of year, atonement is always on my mind. So, in the spirit of both the upcoming Yom Kippur holiday, and the tradition of confession, I ask you...

Is there something you'd like to say to the Rams, or any Ram? Do you wish to apologize, or admit you were wrong about something?

For me, the answer is easy.

I have been anti-Danny Amendola for a while, and I was wrong.

Sure, he doesn't have imposing size or impressive speed. But what he does have is more important.

He's a football player. He knows how to play the game. In his case, I've come to realize that he has the greatest knack for getting open, making the catch and getting past the first down marker. In recent games, he's even demonstrated big play potential.

So, yes... I'm pretty late to the party, but I'm on the bandwaggon now.

Perhaps I'll make it up to DA fully by buying one of his jerseys if I should find one in St. Louis when I visit in two weeks.

He's earned it, and I'm sorry for doubting him.

I regret that I was willing to argue to keep DeSpags for another year. Seemed logical in my mind at the time but hard to argue with how different this team is in just a few short months.

    I'm sorry.

Think I'll have to join in with AV. I wouldn't have complained if the rumors were true that we were shopping Amendola for a second round pick, before the preseason.

Now I know how good he is, and how important he is for this offense. Way more then a secound rounder (I'm looking at you Pead ) Keep up the good work Danny boy!

I owe Brian Schottenheimer a big apology for painting him as an inept, out of touch play caller when he was being considered for the Rams OC position. I did not like what he did in NY, and assumed he would be a disaster in St. Louis. Man, I was dead wrong. He's been rock solid and a wizard in navigating the Rams offense through youth, mediocrity, injuries, adversity, and especially getting Sam Bradford back on track in a big way. I couldn't be happier with what he's done. Sorry Brian.

I'm glad to admit being wrong about Finnegan not being an upgrade over Bartell. I still think RB was an underrated player but there's no denying that CF is the glue holding this defense together. The pieces are stronger in themselves but he HAS made a big difference so far. And it's much more than the headgames stuff, thankfully.

I was furious when we drafted ol' jame laurinaitis. I watched him at OSU and was not impressed and figured he would just be another busted linebacker......BOY WAS I WRONG AND JAMES I APOLOGIZE.

Re: Clan Confessions: What do you want to atone for?

While I am tempted to cut and paste Av's remarks on Mr. Amendola into my own post because they closely mirror my own, I have to be truly honest in that the player I have really ragged on is Brandon Gibson.

I have advocating cutting this guy for several years now and was secretly hoping he would stink it up in training camp so to make it easier on the coaching staff.

Gotta admit though he has shown that he belongs and maybe here in his fourth year is starting to develop into a good "go to" receiver.

I know that Sam sure likes him......and that is gonna be good enough for me.

I hereby officially admit I was wrong about Mr. Gibson.

    WHAT SAY YE?

My apology would have to go to Stan. I seriously doubted that he'd ever make the right moves to get us back where we belong. This is crow I don't mind eating. It could use some salt though.

I gotta come clean with Steven Jackson. I thought he would not be able to handle the rookie backs being drafted. Just though his ego was too big. Boy was I wrong, the guy has not only mentored both but has had them over to his house to study film and make them feel part of the team. When he talks about them you can tell he wants them to do well, he's the real deal.

Here is to hearing these words "This ones for Steven"!

    I wanted Suh.

I thought that Suh should have been our #1 pick in 2010. Not saying he's a bust, but Bradford has done more as a leader of this team than Suh ever could, and he'll be a major part of our turnaround.

Im sorry Brandon Gibson for expecting that you'd be cut.

You've impressed in the first two games with 100 yards and two touchdowns(should've been three but the replacement zebras blew it).

Now keep it up or I take back my apology!

If someday I'm ever wrong about anything, I'll add to this list.

Okay fine, I'll play along. I thought tossing our veteran legs was a terrible idea. Z-the-knee and Heck-yea-Hekker have proved me wrong.

Re: Clan Confessions: What do you want to atone for?

At the time of their hiring, I was not very impressed or optimistic about adding Brian Schottenheimer or Paul Boudreau, but through two games, the offense as a whole has looked much improved over last year and the offensive line, despite some pieces that would underwhelm most when viewed on paper, has held up better than expected. Thus far, I've been dead wrong about both of those hires, and I hope I continue to be proven wrong as the offense continues to flourish.
