CLAN EXCLUSIVE: Report on Marshall Faulk Interview
Marshall Faulk was just interviewed on a Ft. Lauderdale station AM 790 "The Ticket."
Here's what he said:
* Down here for charity golf tournament.
* Rams are "great organization."
* Taking it "year to year."
* Regarding this season: "Haven't made a decision yet."
* "More looking forward to going back than not."
* "I can't go in there and play a whole season, every down, like I used to."
* "Hard times are times you have to go through before you can be successful. It breeds hunger."
* "We've (Linehan and I) talked. He talked about expanding my role. I said - as long as it doesn't hurt the chemistry of the team."
* "Its his [Steven Jackson's] job."
* "I need to make sure he's battle tested and ready [again, referring to Jackson]"
* Doesn't worry about Jackson taking his role. Some players won't help young players, but he is willing to help him because "in the end, the only thing you get recognized for is winning."
* "Marc had problems staying healthy? The O line had problems keeping him healthy! Let's keep it real!"
* "We have to do a better job of protecting our quarterback."
* Talked about his Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund.
* Also does a lot of work with inner city youth - "Helping them learn how to succeed."
* Has raised over $200,000 for New Orleans. Being used to rebuild parks and playgrounds in the city.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: CLAN EXCLUSIVE: Report on Marshall Faulk Interview
My impressions:
1. Faulk obviously knew he'd be asked about this coming year, and his response seemed very practiced. There was also a hint of coyness in his voice - almost like he is, on some level, enjoying the fact that he's at a stage in his career where he doesn't have to make a decision right away.
2. If I had to guess, I'd say he'll play one more year.
3. Definitely came accross as a supporter of both Steven Jackson and Marc Bulger.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: CLAN EXCLUSIVE: Report on Marshall Faulk Interview
Nice post...Marshall is one of kind. With his attitude, it would be nice to see him stay with the Rams after is retired as some type of coach. Indy is kicking themselves in the @$$ for letting him go.

Re: CLAN EXCLUSIVE: Report on Marshall Faulk Interview
Well, at Indy he wasn't this way and honestly Vermeil didn't want him because he doubted his work ethic. However, it just goes to show you that a change of scenary can change perception. Unless your T.O.
I don't care who you are....I love me some me was pretty funny. Stupid but funny.

Re: CLAN EXCLUSIVE: Report on Marshall Faulk Interview
You are most welcome.
And... since you mentioned it, I'm very happy to report that Joshua the AvengerLamb (actually, he likes the Dolphins) did a top-notch job on the Four Questions at both seders.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: CLAN EXCLUSIVE: Report on Marshall Faulk Interview
If he stays one more season it would benifit Jackson a lot. Being around a future HOF will raise his effort and Faulk can still teach him a lot about the game.
I can see Jackson being a future Marshall Faulk, and hope Faulk stays at least just one more season.

An extremely high benchmark, but stranger things have happened. It's certainly not out of the realm of possibility given the right situation.

Curtis Martin was a third rounder. Never say never.

Re: CLAN EXCLUSIVE: Report on Marshall Faulk Interview
Still need -- and hopefully, have -- a very special Marshall in our Rams offense. No. 28.

 Great to read how mature he is as the RB sage that he is, how supportive he is of the Rams as well.
