ClanRam Rams 2012 MVP: Preseason Predictions

I will be posting the ClanRam Rams' 2012 MVP polls once the season starts but, for now, I'm curious who Rams fans think will win this highly coveted award.

Steven Jackson

There is little doubt in my mind Jackson will be given the ball early and often. This week was another sign of that when the Rams sent Smith packing for Hunter. Who's main role will be in the Jumbo pack at TE. If Steven stays healthy he may have his best year ever!

I would have voted for Jackson, but I don't think he will be healthy enough to be a strong factor. I voted for Chris Long, he will likely be the biggest playmaker this year.

I fear that offense again will be limited by the offensive line, but it will be better than last year, which will mean that we play against more balanced offenses in the second half. Chris Long got 13 sacks last year when we won 2 games. Imagine what he can get when we actually go 5-11 or 7-9!

Put me down for Chris being in the top 4 for sacks with 17 and running away with our MVP. He'd be higher, but I'm hoping for Quinn to steal more than a few of the "race you to the QB" matches that our two ends will have all year long. If we can get Sam the time and the weapons he needs(and that's not to say we haven't... we need to see how the year unfolds), I see a very good, Freeney and Mathis-like pair on the defensive line.

It's a footrace between Daryl Richardson and Austin Davis. If D-Rich has another good preseason game and earns the backup job, then he earns the preseason MVP.

What I think............Steven Jackson. It's hard to de-throne a king, and S-Jax is this franchise right now.

What I hope............Sam Bradford. If the QB is the team MVP, then you probably had a good year.


What I wouldn't be surprised by.........Greg Zuerlein. If the offense is going to stall out around mid-field, having a Kicker that can consistently punch in 50+ yarders is a good thing.

After the 2012 season is in the books, people will be debating whether the Rams have the best duo of DEs in the league after Quinn gets 16 sacks. Go ahead and mark it down.

I hope with everything I have that it's Bradford. In reality, I think it will be Long.

As an FYI, this poll is just "preseason" for the ClanRam Rams MVP race.

When the real polls start, I'm going to have a couple of new twists.

Like last year, I'll select my 5 candidates for MVP of the week.

However, the poll will have two other options: (1) write-in candidates (posters will have to respond and specify who they think should be the MVP), and (2) none of the above.

The top 5 vote-getters will receive points (5, 4, 3, etc.) so, if the Clan does not like my nominees, or thinks that nobody deserves to win that week (hopefully we won't have too many games like that), then points will be awarded only to the nominees that are in the top 5 of 7.

Let's all hope for a multi-player race that lasts into the latter portions of the season!
