Coach Fisher still has a trick or two for the Rattlesnake

Through three preseason games, Rams rookieTavon Austin’s entire offensive output consists of five catches for 40 yards. But Rams coach Jeff Fisher says there’s a simple reason for that: The Rams have big plans for Austin that they don’t want to give away.
Fisher told Jim Rome that the versatile Austin will do all kinds of things in the Rams’ offense this season, but there’s no way the Rams are going to give opposing defensive coordinators a look at those things before the games count.
“We have a pretty good idea but we haven’t shown it yet,” Fisher said. “He’s not had a lot of production in the preseason, only because it makes sense to hold those types of things for the regular season.”
Austin returned two punts last week, one for 81 yards and one for 23 yards, and Fisher said those plays were a hint of how much of a threat Austin can be in the open field.
“He did get his hands on a couple punts,,” Fisher said. “You can kind of see the type of ability he has with the ball in his hands.”
We’ll have to wait until the regular season to get a full view of what Austin can do with the ball in his hands.

Nice reference, Blue & Gold in spanish lol! I love that in Clash of Titans when Posiedon releases the Kraken! Tavon is or should be our not so secret weapon along with Cook this season! We have so many that could be threats, we are more a Hydra than a Kraken now unless it is the giant Squid type with all those tentacles from Pirates O' the Carebean... Arrrrg!

The squiddy-headed pirates in those movies always make me think of Seahag fans.

With our young group of WRs, we have a chance to surprise a lot of teams early on.

With all the hype, Austin will be no surprise on purpose to any team. I'm sure game-planning for him initially includes his college tape, the punt return, etc.

The not expected might be what Fisher does with him...but that's no secret either since it is a headline on nfl.com

The surprise could be teams planning for Austin and forgetting that we are now skilled beyond him. I think this is Givens' year. He will be a top WR this season.

It's going to be very simple. Rams now have the weapons to find mismatches and/or one on one coverage which Bradford will exploit often. Austin will give us some great athletic plays, but Cook, Givens, Pettis, Steadman, Kendricks along with the RBs will be big contributers.

Get your chair plump, microbrew cold and big screen warmed up and get ready for the show.

Sometimes I think all this secrecy before the season starts is a bit over the top, but if it results in an opening day win over a star-struck Arizona, I'm all in.
