    Coaching vs. Executing

When we lose close games coaching and lack of execution can usually be blamed.

    Coaching Examples:

Should have gone for the fg.
Should have gone for the 1st down.
    Wasted to many time outs.
Should have called a run on that play.

    Lack of Execution Examples:
    Fumbles
    Interceptions
    Penalties
    Missed assignments
    Missed blocks

The three blow-outs this season are a result of a total lack of execution by our players. Like it or not.

The plays are sent in whether it be offensive, defensive or special teams. The players have to know and do their respective jobs, period.

    It's not happening.

Is bad coaching to blame? Could be but these guys have been playing football all their lives basically. WAKE UP!!!

With performances this bad, you have to blame both. A lot of players will lose their jobs over these performances. The coaches should too.

For three seasons now, we've been poor tacklers- it's got to be the coaching. And besides, before Fahkir Brown getting cut- there's never been any repercussions for lousy play with this regime. Tye Hill has actually gotten his starting CB position back after getting lit up as a nickel back last week!!!

I generally buy what you're saying, but sometimes poor execution is a result of poor coaching/play calling. Most of what you have listed up there is play calling or gameday decision making...

first, there is actual coaching that goes on during the week that can affect execution...

second, some of the playcalling/decision making by the coaches can affect execution.. for instance, being too predictable in playcalling can allow the other team to stack the box for the 1st 2 rushes, then put in the nickle for the obligatory 3rd and long situation..

third, motivation is the responsibility of the coaching staff. True.. usually the quality players motivate themselves probably more than anyone else can, but the coaching staff must be responsible for motivating those who don't.. and that's not being done either.

Just a few examples.... I don't disagree that the players have to step up.. and probably a lot more than most of us fans have been calling for.. maybe they do bear a bit more of the blame than we've assigned.. I haven't seen much from them... but it will always ultimately go back to the coaches... not always before good players who are mishandled by those coaches are affected, though.
