Committee recommends approval of Kroenke's Rams bid

    By Jim Thomas

The NFLís finance committee has unanimously recommended approval of Stan Kroenkeís Rams purchase bid, the Post-Dispatch has confirmed through several league sources.

Short of the actual league vote itself, which takes place Wednesday in Atlanta, thatís a strong indication that the purchase will be approved.
The finance committee will make its report and invite discussion Wednesday in Atlanta. At that time, Kroenke can comment or respond to questions as he chooses, and then the vote will take place.

The entire approval process Wednesday may take only an hour or so, barring an unexpected hitch.

Kroenke, 63, already owns 40 percent of the Rams. The Missouri native is attempting to purchase the 60 percent of the team currently held by Chip Rosenbloom and sister Lucia Rodriguez.

    ----

Good news. Let's hope this is the start of a new and great era for the St. Louis Rams

Always and Forever a fan of the St. Louis Rams

First thing he should do, build a new stadium out in Fenton.

Don't know about Fenton, but build a new OUTDOOR stadium anywhere but where they're currently at. ...location, not the city, necessarily.

I watch the games on TV and have talked to others that have been there and it always looks so dark and drab inside. Not to mention it sounds like a freakin' morgue in there. Football needs to be played outdoors. If it's too hot or cold for the St louisians to attend. Move 'em.

Too close to Six Flags, and not enough Major Road ways to support traffic.

Riverport are would be better if the wetlands weren't an issue. It has easy access to Page Ave extension and I-70, relatively easy access to I-270 and I-64, and close proximity to 3 Airports for visiting teams. It also puts it a little more than jogging distance from RAMs Park.

When and if it happens, do you think Spags, Demoff, and the rest are gone at the end of the year?

My opinion is that spags has been hung out to dry, thrown under the buss.
So does he keep Spags and get rid of the rest. Does he get rid of everyone and start over? Because its going to be one of them if we dont win more than six games....... Or maybe both.

Beat the dead horse some more and bring them back to LA to relocate to Los Angeles Stadium?

i would say that`s the first hurdle out of the way and perhaps i`m alone here but i think that part was more a picket fence than an olympic standard hurdle...that will soon have to be crossed.
did anyone really doubt that the Kreonke`s with their money wouldn`t pass the financial examination?

don`t mean to rain on anyones parade..but i`ll hold back on the party hats and Professor Longhair records until Stan is passed in officially.

Of course not. He was part of their hiring.

I dunno, but he can always blame Shawmunt (For Devaney, at least).

Retractable roof to replace the dome please. I'd rather not do away with a roof in St. Louis' extreme-prone climate, but I understand a certain faction of the fanbase has been brainwashed into wanting to play outside.

The preferred scenario is to have the best of BOTH worlds.

The "Pink Taco" stadium that Arizona plays in has a retractable dome, and the grass field is kept outside and is only rolled in on game day. That way they play on grass and not carpet, have comfy climate control and a quality football viewing experience all rolled into one.

    Sounds good, eh?

    WHAT SAY YE?

Bingo !! When Spags and crew were hired, Both Stan and Chip/Lucia knew the team would soon be up for sale to pay off the estate taxes, plus Stan owned 40% already which certainly qualified him as having a vested interest in the team's future. Does anyone really think Stan just clammed up and looked the other way when it was time to install a new regime? .. I sure don't ..

New stadiums are mostly domed or retractable roofs these days and they've been trending that way for like 15 years now. Building outdoor stadiums in cold climates doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
