    The complete Checketts statement..

taken from a Jim Thomas article

Here is the complete statement from Checketts:

“We have not made any secret of the fact that we are investors with significant holdings in St. Louis, including the St. Louis Blues. As such, we have been exploring potential opportunities to purchase the St. Louis Rams.

“Currently, we are involved in a process regarding the Rams being conducted by Goldman Sachs and are subject to confidentiality agreements with them - and therefore have not made any further comments regarding our bid.

“In light of statements and news reports regarding our bid recently, we have received permission to clarify our intentions.

“We represent a group of investors who seek to keep the team in St. Louis and have invited many Missourians to join us in this effort. Not surprisingly, we have had tremendous support from many strong and influential leaders who seek to help us in our efforts.

“Rush Limbaugh, who was born 100 miles south of St. Louis, was part of our group. This made sense to us, particularly in light of his affection for the NFL in general and his interest in keeping the Rams in St. Louis.

“Rush was to be a limited partner - as such, he would have had no say in the direction of the club or in any decisions regarding personnel or operations. This was a role he enthusiastically embraced.

“However, it has become clear that his involvement in our group has become a complication and a distraction to our intentions; endangering our bid to keep the team in St. Louis.

“As such, we have decided to move forward without him and hope it will eventually lead us to a successful conclusion.

The past is past. It's now time to move forward with a new partner............just as soon as Bryan Burwell, DeMaurice Smith, and Al Sharpton give Checketts the list of names they approve.

I agree with ya there....Ya know, Pujols is up for a big contract coming up....wonder if he would throw the Rams some money to stay and then just collect it back from the Cardinals?

    I swear, I haven't been smoking anything......

It's time to give the "blame game" a rest. Mr Limbaugh has worked long and hard to create the furor that follows many of his statements. It's what makes him so popular amongst his devotees. He made the bed. He shpouldn't complain that he has to sleep in it too. He decided to devote 30 minutes to his lost bid on his show. In those thirty minutes he managed to blame everyone bht himself for his predicament. He is what he is. That's what made him popular. That's what made him rich. He has chosen his path. He needs to be a man and accept what he has created.

For one, I'm glad he's out of the process. He is/was a HUGE distractioion, and as an owner (even a minority owner) he would have continued to be a source of angst for many in the Rams community. So HUB, if you feel the need to blame others for Mr. Limbaughs fate, you'll probably need to add Rush and a majority of the Ram's fanbase as well.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!!

Not blaming anyone. Just wanting to make sure all the proper approval has been sought before a prospective owner becomes a bidder.

But as it stands, Limbaugh is old news. He's no longer a potential owner, so there's no longer a need to discuss him on a Rams board. Thread closed.
