    Complete roster cuts so far

    BY JIM THOMAS | Posted: Saturday, September 4, 2010 4:38 pm |

More roster shuffling probably is in the works over the next several days, but the Rams have reached their regular-season roster limit of 53.
Twenty players were released on Friday and Saturday, and two more were placed on injured reserve because of knee injuries (safety Kevin Payne and offensive lineman Eric Young).
Among the 20 released players, four names previously unreported were wide receiver Danario Alexader, the former University of Missouri standout who has battled knee problems; cornerback Quincy Butler, who started seven games for the Rams last season; running back Chris Ogbonnaya, who entered training camp as the No. 2 back behind Steven Jackson; and center Drew Miller, who spent the last three weeks of the 2009 season on the Rams' practice squad.
Here is the complete list of player cuts and IR moves:
    Offense
    _ QB Keith Null
    _ RB Chris Ogbonnaya
    _ FB Dennis Morris
_ WRs Danario Alexander, Jordan Kent, Brandon McRae
    _ TE Darcy Johnson
_ G Roger Allen, C Tim Mattran, T Ryan McKee, C Drew Miller, T Eric Young (IR).
    Defense
_ DE Victor Adeyanju, DT Ernest Reid
_ LBs Devin Bishop, Bobby Carpenter, Cardia Jackson
_ CBs Quincy Butler, Marquis Johnson, Antoine Thompson
_ Ss Brett Johnson, Kevin Payne (IR)

Some interesting names on & off that list. Cudjo makes the squad?!

The Carpenter cut surprises me; wonder if they'll give him some more time to learn the system on the PS.

Pretty thin behind the starters at OT. Is Trautwein still around?

I guess the Fendiacs will be pleased.

The only reason one would be surprised Cudjo make the squad is if they weren't watching the games. He earned his spot.

    Carpenter is not PS eligible.

    Trautwein suffered a significant injury.

Hmm, at least put Alexander, McRae, Jackson, and M. Johnson on the PS.

I have seen Cudjo's play & if one had read my posts about the games, one would know I'm a fan & happy that he was retained. Just a bit surprised, given Spags' penchant for keeping DEs who can work inside rather than lots of pure DTs.

I'd forgotten about the PS accrued seasons thing. Thanks for reminding me. I still think there were good signs in his play that he could have contributed down the line. All of Cudjo's highlights also came vs scrubs so I guess, as Spags indicated, there's more to it than productivity in the games.

I thought that was the case with Trautwein but it was a while back & the rosters are seldom accurate on NFL.com at this stage. Heck, I didn't even know we'd taken on that Bishop guy when he got cut...lol..

I liked Renardo Foster's work with the 2nd OL in preseason & think Thad needs to buy him some dinner but that's still a soft spot if there's an injury, imo. I don't rue Barron's loss overall but it would be nice to have some more experience there without shuffling the starters.Hopefully Greco's strong showing vs Balt indicates he's ready to step in at OG if Goldberg has to move outside.

I'm personally glad we kept Josh Hull. Also, it's nice to see Cudjo make the team.

Even as thin as we are at WR, we still cut Alexander? Wow.

Yeah but Ithink if he'd been retained, it probably would have been over Curry who at that point might've been the odd man out of the group. That being said, im glad we did keep Curry as Ihave high hopes for him. Even if he did play against backups, we know he can play with aggression all while still making plays...

I've been out of the country, can someone tell me what happenned to Trautwein? Is he practice squad eleigible? I know he was on the active roster for a lot of the games last year.

I like cutting Quincy Butler. He was an idiot. Remember when he came onto the field against Seattle when he wasn't actually on the field goal team? Or what about when he gave the ***** 7 points by booting the ball into the endzone, then not just falling on it for a touchback?
