Continuing the Pink Floyd theme... (a Mike Martz dedication)

    So...
So you think you can tell,
    how the turmoil will quell?
    A short-sighted refrain.
Can you tell a dream season,
    from a foray to Hell?
    When hope's a tough sell.
Do you think you can tell?

    Did the ones who complain,
turn you from hero to goat?
    The masses will see,
    winning's not a cool breeze,
    But, those who assail,
    forget most who try fail.
But now that you're gone they will know,
in the coffin this day's just a nail.

    How I wish...
How I wish you were here...
    Forget all of those trolls.
In two Super Bowls, your role was clear.
Ran out by a front office clown.
    What have they found?
    A fan's greatest fears.
    Wish you were here.

Great job in linking PF to MM. Nice creativity.

I was never a PF fan. My limited exposure to their work caused me to avoid them; what I listened to I disliked.

Their music is too depressing, too hopeless, to nihilistic, for me to enjoy.

But, there were one of the most talented bands out there. I remember doing some comparing of their work to the Guess Who and Dire Straits. PF's work was clearly superior.

Give me the fun, uplifting sounds of the Beach Boys, or a real expression of life from the Beatles, or the lose-yourself music of Cold Play anyday over the "life sucks, life's empty" music of PF.

I have it on good authority that AV prefers Kid Rock over Pink Floyd anyway.

I would rather listen to the sound of a 85 year old man with chronic emphysema clearing his throat accompanied by the sound of nails on a chalkboard than any "song" ever recorded by Kid Rock.

Two things come to mind - first, if you preferred anything, you probably preferred Floyd after Roger Waters left; second, you probably don't have any Leonard Cohen material for those dark sides of the moon.

It really is a shame that AV can't express his feelings so that we can truly understand what his thoughts are, sheesh boy, just spit it out, alright???? LOL

    Nice work AV,
PF music is deep enough to reach every corner of your own mind and all that you have been, and will be. It's not the lyrics, it's the architecture of each chord from Gillmans guitar, Wrights keyboard, and Masons drums.

ex. Shine on your crazy diamond part - 1

If you listen good, volume high, relive your life in a snapshot, and the hair doesn't stand up on the back of your neck, you ain't human.

I've seen them three times, three shows each time.....PRICELESS !!!

The Dark Side of the Moon.............

I bought the LP (which I still have, by the way) the first day it was released.

I took it over to one of my friends' house. His parents had a top-of-the-line Marantz set-up. We got very high.
    We cranked up the volume.

There is nothing that compares to hearing DSOTM for the first time.

    Always a Rams Fan............

As a rams fan, if martz is not back, i will feel far from "Comfortably Numb," it will be more like The Dark Side of the Moon.

That was good, even though I didn't understand a lot of it . But one of my favourite Pink Floyd songs.

    LOL

AV, "Shine on You Crazy Diamond"!

    first, if you preferred anything, you probably preferred Floyd after Roger Waters left;
Try "A Monetary Lapse of Reason"; it's my favorite Floyd CD.

I don't usually bump my own threads, but I thought that song was particularly pertinent today.
