Could the FO be smarter than us?

I know I like to think positive but think about this: A lot of people were griping about the rams FO not making any moves for a big name OC. Now it seams we are the definite front runner for saunders which is a definite upgrade from cameron. Do you guys think that possibly, just possibly that the rams back channels of communication knew that saunders would become available? Maybe this is the guy the rams really wanted.

I also hope this doesnt jinx our chances at getting saunders!

Re: Could the FO be smarter than us?

I like our chances with Saunders dont get me wrong. But the Rams had me so excited about Cameron and they disappointed me.

If they do succeed, I'll be happy.

Re: Could the FO be smarter than us?

I just didn't have my hopes high for Cameron. To me, he had too many options to choose St. Louis. Even though he went to the death-trap that is Baltimore.

Whether this was a deliberate move...it's hard to tell. I think what's more likely is that the death of Ms. Fontiere derailed offseason proceedings, and the FO was contented knowing that Ken Zampese and Hue Jackson would be still be available as co-ordinators after dealing with Ms Fontiere's unfortunate passing, and lucked out, honing in on a fantastic freshly-fired candidate with apparently few options but the Rams.

This would be HUGE.

We put more thought into it than this Front office.

They were very lucky. Saunders happened to be fired at a time where there are no other coordinator positions open. The Rams didn't know what fickle Redskins Daniel Snyder was going to do - Joe Gibbs didn't even know. The coaches of the Redskins yesterday said they didn't know what was going on - except they were being told hold on for a couple more weeks.

Saunders has no other options if he wants to remain a coordinator in the NFL
- but to come to the Rams. The others had limited options and they didn't select the Rams.

Re: Could the FO be smarter than us?

Any ideas if Linehan gets along with Saunders? Linehan and Haslett don't always see eye to eye. Will Linehan be able to sit back and let Saunders run the offense. It should make an interesting setup tho with 2 experienced coordinators and a head coach like Linehan.

Re: Could the FO be smarter than us?

I know a lot of people think otherwise, but I think a OC job in St. Louis is actually pretty appealing. When Linehan gets nixed (and he will) the OC has got to be a front-runner for a HC position, especially a guy like Saunders.

Re: Could the FO be smarter than us?

We don't have Saunders yet. I agree with Tony and the rest of the FO doubters. It's not like not signing Cameron was their first offense either. Drafts, some free agents, not firing Linny. All these things add to their inepititude.

I'm crossing my fingers that Saunders falls in our lap and we get lucky.

I do agree that the offense in St Louis appealing. S-Jax, Holt, and Bulger. I think Bulger is a step up from Jason Campell and S-Jax is better than Clinton (but not by much.) Holt and Santana Moss are both studs. Hopefully that will help the FO get lucky.

Re: Could the FO be smarter than us?

I don't believe there is anyone smarter then a ClanRam member. The majority of us live a more simple life. We have jobs that we go to every day and we don't get called idiots every other day. We can second guess FO mistakes and say how bad they screwed up here and there when our team don't do good. Instead of being a FO person and spend the majority of their time being afraid to pull the trigger or covering up bonehead decisions they make we get to make trades and decisions every day in the ClanRam forum. We also get to call people Loserhan, FOSL, lame duck and start groups called SLOP. We are the smart ones we get to go to work every day and say whats on our mind about the team. Who needs all that money to be called a loser and not get to speak your mind.

Re: Could the FO be smarter than us?

I think it's quite obvious that all of us on ClanRam aren't front office material. If we were, we'd probably be doing that.

But the whole point of this board is to discuss our opinions of the team, whether good or bad. To gripe when we're upset and laud when we're satisfied. That's what sports fans do. When we're unhappy, we talk about it. There's nothing else we can do.

Just because we're not qualified doesn't mean we can't criticize when we don't like something. Most movie critics couldn't make a movie worth a damn and many music critics can't play a C chord I'm sure. Doesn't stop them. Why should it stop us.

Unless, you weren't being sarcastic, RamsSB. Then -- well -- cool.

Re: Could the FO be smarter than us?

Just having a little fun I don't disagree we can say what we wan't here. Its just interesting to think these guys get all that money while we call them boneheads. On second thought if I got paid as much as them I would probably allow everyone here to call me a bonehead while I laughed all the way to the bank knowing I sucked at my job and still got paid for it.

I agree just because you hold a position don't mean you are good at it.

Re: Could the FO be smarter than us?

That's cool. I wasn't picking a fight or anything. I just couldn't gather your tone since it's written word.

Most fans don't know anything or don't make as much as the front office. Though watching these guys make all that money and fritter away our team infuriates us all.

Since I live in NJ I had to go to a sports bar to watch all the Rams games (except for on Fox national game (vs GB) and the one Steelers game on the NFLnetwork). I wanted to send the Rams front office all my receipts for all the games they lost and some gas bills driving to and fro from the sports bar. They have the money. They should have paid for my mental damages. Never collected enough receipts to make my statement though.
