    Re: The D was offensive

the d looked flat and deflated throughout the entirety of the game. just as bad were the tackling whiffs by guys like archuleta, thomas, chillar and everyone else...geez.

but, the beauty of the game of football is that teams regress and improve like the ebbing and flowing of sine waves which resonate in everything in the universe. one bad defeat in this game is just that, one bad defeat in football. with some luck and synchronization, the rams will hopefully pick up the energy and play better in the coming weeks...despite the mindnumbing challenges and timeouts... :upset:

Oh yeah!! Played with reckless abandon, inspirational leader of the defense and one hell of a force in the middle. We truly have missed his presence.

The question I have from this is whether Fletch could have been brought within the salary cap restraints if the will on both sides was there. And the same question applies to Conwell and Hodgins and Proehl and Hakim?

    Hakim - no.
Conwell - was inside the cap. Just went to New Orleans instead.
Proehl - Would have been brought in at the league minimum. He declined.
Hodgins - well, we whiffed on that one.
Fletcher - Yes. He could have fit but what would have the Rams have done with Warner at that moment?

Let me answer it this way. Don't mess with success. I would have done everything in my power to keep the team intact as long as possible. Ask the players what it would take for them to accept less to try and threepeat. Ask for volunteers to restructure existing contracts. Act like the 40tyNiners did. Hey. What can I say. Winning one SB wasn't enough. Two or three or four more in a row would have done just fine thank you. Hell with parity. Let's cheat now. Nobody will take away the rings afterward anyway.
