Daily Positional Breakdown: Part 2: RB

    2011 - RB's

    Steven Jackson:
    15 GS, 260 carries, 1,145 yards, 4.4 avg, 5 TD's, 42 receptions, 333 yards, 1 TD, 2 Fum

    Cadillac Williams:
    1 GS, 87 carries, 361 yards, 4.1 avg, 1 TD, 14 receptions, 93 yards, O TD, 1 Fum

    Jerious Norwood:
    0 GS, 24 carries, 61 yards, 2.5 avg, 0 TD

Other than SJAX having one of his best years (When measuring in yards per run - 4.4) we didn't receive much from the RB position. Norwood was a non-factor when playing, and was often injured. Cadillac had a few injury issues himself, though he was a decent runner when called upon. Jackson himself missed 1 game and played 2 hurt. Had he been healthy I think he would of cracked 1,300 yards.

    2012 - Projections

    Steven Jackson:
    16 GS, 270 carries, 1,295 yards, 4.8 avg, 8 TD's, 25 receptions, 199 yards, 1 TD, 1 Fum

    Isaiah Pead
    :
    0 GS, 101 carries, 504 yards, 5.0 avg, 1 TD, 32 receptions, 294 yards, 2 TD's, 2 Fum

    Daryl Richardson
    (or other 3rd RB):
    0 GS, 17 carries, 72 yards, 4.2 avg, 0 TD, 3 receptions, 11 yards, 0 TD, 0 Fum

I believe SJAX will be steady like he has been throughout his entire career topping 1,000 yards another time. I think he will stay healthy throughout the year, playing with a few bumps and bruises. Our spell back Pead will be a huge factor this year, especially coming out of the backfield. I also see him being involved in the ST game. I look for him to be a serious threat to take it to the house at any time.

    "The Edge"

I believe the 2012 RB roster has the edge. Isaiah Pead is a huge addition and brings something we've lacked forever, speed. Like I said before, SJAX will be the steady usual Jackson we've learned to see throughout our tenure's as fans. I believe the key to the edge will be Pead's ability to be an all-around back and his dangerous speed.

Stay Tuned for the breakdown of TE's!
