Danario Alexander: I'll Be Ready To Play Sunday
Danario Alexander: I'll be ready to play Sunday
BY BILL COATS
Wednesday, November 24, 2010
Buoyed by a strong practice today, St. Louis Rams wide receiver Danario Alexander declared himself fully recovered from knee surgery Oct. 29.
"I feel ready to go," Alexander said. "I had a great practice today, everything felt good, so I'll be ready to play Sunday."
Coach Steve Spagnuolo and his staff will decide Friday which 45 players to dress Sunday at Denver. But Alexander likes his chances.
"I think so. I'm feeling pretty good about my body, and I'm pretty sure they are," he said.
The surgery repaired cartilage damage and was a relatively simple procedure, Alexander pointed out. He said his leg feels better than when he last played on Sunday, Oct. 24 at Tampa Bay.
"A whole lot better," he said. "My legs feel fresh, and I got a chance to rest and get ready."

I wouldn't mind de-activating Mardy Gilyard.

Re: Danario Alexander: I'll Be Ready To Play Sunday
Next year we will be in a tough position. Although I love Alexander, he has to stop getting injured (has no input on it). But Gilyard....c'mon kid. Step your game up.
What happens next year? Right now he is struggling and were all really disappointed, although he could take some time to develop.
Mark Clayton
Donnie Avery
Laurent Robinson
Brandon Gibson
Dominique Curry
Danny Amendola
Danario Alexander
Mardy Gilyard
Who stays and who go's? And everyone including me are talking about signing or drafting a WR which means another has to go.
I'd say bye to Robinson and Curry for sure, although Curry really did well on ST. Laurent has been a huge disappointment this season.
I'd love to see Gibson come back since he has shown that he can make plays though he is inconsistent.
Gilyard has been a huge disappointment. I see why he would be back for another year but darn....He has literally no clue what he is doing out there and I'd rather keep everyone but Robinson here over him.
Alexander has done tremendous while playing, but that knee is a huge concern. I'd love to see him back though.
In my eyes, I have no doubt that Clayton will be back. He did amazing while being here and would only benefit from a more experienced Bradford.
I also see Avery back. He has 1 more shot, to prove that he belongs on this team. He had an excuse with Bulger, but no more with Bradford.
Amendola= 100% will be back.

Re: Danario Alexander: I'll Be Ready To Play Sunday
Every snap DA gets is a gift from the NFL gods, his career is going to be short.
Definately Keep:
Mark Clayton
Brandon Gibson
Danny Amendola
Danario Alexander (very unlikely he will be healthy, though)
Keep Dominique Curry for special teams if he was a contributer.
Cut:
Donnie Avery
Laurent Robinson
Mardy Gilyard
The only circumstance I can see keeping Avery is if we cannot aquire a pro-bowl caliber reciever in FA or the draft. I heard analysis on NFL Network today that out of the current class of seniors, none of them are 1st round talent. Take that for what its worth, but it sounds like we might end up gambling again if the Rams rely on the draft. We do not want another project wide out, we are full up.

Re: Danario Alexander: I'll Be Ready To Play Sunday
2011 will be the shot in the arm the Rams need. Avery will be fine as Clayton will move up to #1 and give Avery a break, no pun intended! With the focus being on Amendola and Clayton, Danario and Gilyard will be able to develop. With the way we have been drafting don't expect us to go get a #1 receiver via draft, in fact I would be extremely shocked if Rams make a trade for a legitimate #1. Curry and Robinson are gone.

Re: Danario Alexander: I'll Be Ready To Play Sunday
Maybe not seniors, but this upcoming draft is one of the deepest for WRs in a long time. There will be some studs to pick from but also some teams looking for help at the position. Depending on where the Rams pick the potential for grabbing a great WR in the draft is not out of the question.

Re: Danario Alexander: I'll Be Ready To Play Sunday
Regardless of what Alexander can mean to Rams, I really am pulling for this kid given the adversity he has had to overcome. He has quite a bit of heart and desire that you just want something good to come from all of his hard work.

Re: Danario Alexander: I'll Be Ready To Play Sunday
I am concerned about the slow pace of Gilyard's development, but what really concerns me is that he doesn't even contribute on special teams, and that was one of his major strengths coming into the draft.
Obviously he still has lots of time to get everything together, but with our WR corps so crowded going into next year, and with the possibility of adding even more receivers, he could be spending his learning time on the PS or even on another team.

Really, I don't think it matters if we keep Avery or not, he'll be hurt by preseason game #3 anyways.

Re: Danario Alexander: I'll Be Ready To Play Sunday
Even when Danario isn't on the field (which he hasn't been), what has Gilyard done exactly? I haven't given up on him but he really seems to be behind in his development. He's by far one of the most disappointing players we've drafted if you ask me.
Anyways, it'll be interesting to see what kind of impact Alexander will have this weekend...
Always and Forever a fan of the St. Louis Rams
