Danny the Manny Amendola
This kid is good. And im not just talking Jive folks. This kid has got hands, and skills to boot. I just wanted to say that he kind of reminds me of Ricky Proehl. What do you guys think?

Re: Danny the Manny Amendola
Not sure if you could compare him to Proehl, I haven't watched a single Rams game this season so I haven't seen Amendola play.. I will be watching the games 30 days from now, done my tour in Afghan!

Re: Danny the Manny Amendola
He reminds me more of a Wes Welker type. I like his skill set and overall tenacity.

Re: Danny the Manny Amendola
Well, my first instinct was to go with, "I like cheesy bread" yum. But, after closer inspection I realized the poll said I like, cheese and bread. So, I went with Amendola is the man instead.

Re: Danny the Manny Amendola
Poor man's Wes Welker, which is still pretty good. He's an ideal fit in the slot where he can create mismatches and find holes over the middle of the field. He's almost too tough, if that makes sense. I'm worried he's going to hurt himself with how fearless he is at times.
It makes you wonder what the long-term plan may be for Gilyard, because it's hard to imagine Amendola being unseated in the slot. And I say that as someone who thought earlier in the year that Danny would get passed up by some of our other more physically talented guys.

Re: Danny the Manny Amendola
I absolutely agree with Nick's assessment of Danny A. as a poor man's Welker. Having said that......
Amendola - 33 rec., 303 yards, 9.2 y/c, 61 y/g
Welker - 26 rec., 217 yards, 8.3 y/c, 54 y/g
IF Danny can keep it up, he won't be a "poor man's" anything.
I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: Danny the Manny Amendola
It probably should be noted that the Rams have attempted 203 passes in five games with Danny getting 49 targets, whereas the Pats have attempted 122 passes in four games with Wes getting 34 targets.
Just to have some fun, Welker is catching about 77% of his targets (Amendola 67%). So if Wes had Amendola's 49 targets, you could project him to have 37 receptions for 307 yards. Which is almost identical to Danny.
It's a fun comparison, and the fact that they're putting up rather similar numbers right now - even when you projected Welker to have the same number of targets Danny does - can only be viewed as a compliment to Amendola.

Re: Danny the Manny Amendola
Danny has a rookie QB throwing to him as well.

Re: Danny the Manny Amendola
he needs to finish off his runs after the catch and score atleast a few TD`s before i`m gonna say he`s in the slot for keeps.
he is a straight baller for sure tho....gotta love the guy for that.

Re: Danny the Manny Amendola
Yes, there's something definitely good and/or interesting brewing in Amendolas' potential pot of tea. And I like it.
'Couple of weeks ago, I think it was our own GC that compared -- or thought of -- Proehl when considering Amendola. That may be a little too much for now. I've said it before, to me, DA reminds of Kevin Curtis. Either way, I hope this young WR continues to develop well and smartly into one of the best new Bradford Boys.
GO RAMS!

Re: Danny the Manny Amendola
Every year there seems to be a smallish slot WR that breaks out...
Thinking back:
Brandon Stokely - Colts
Mike Furrey - Lions
Lance Moore - Saints
Wes Welker - Patriots
Danny certainly fits that mold. I think he'd be getting more national attention if he was finding the endzone. The yardage is there right now for a good strong season from him....just needs some scores.

Re: Danny the Manny Amendola
lol @ a "poor man's wes welker". as if welker is some kind of world beater. they are the same person, just in different uniforms. welker just happened to benefit from being in one of the most prolific offenses ever. neither one of them were drafted and they play with humongous chips on their shoulders, which is awesome.
when welker was a dolphin they were the exact same person for the most part, just welker was being utilized a little more actually punting and things of that nature. amendola and bradford have developed a great rapport between one another and i think he'll be a staple in the slot for years to come.
