The Day the Circus Came to Town (and proved AvengerRam wrong)

I spend a significant amount of time each week with my TV or radio tuned to one of the various sports stations out there in the mediaverse. This week, I've heard more talk about a Rams' opponent than in the prior ten weeks combined.

Welcome to the big top... its Jets week.

While the Rams remain a work in progress, I can't stress enough how glad I am that I'm not a Jets fan.

QB controversies. When is Tebow time? Bold predictions. Locker room leaks.

Every week, its something.

And, so... I must make a confession.

I could not have been more wrong than I was four years ago when I advocated for Rex Ryan as the Rams' Head Coach. I thought that Rex was a guy who had the right combination of system and fire to be the type of leader the Rams needed after the SLOP won its victory.

Instead, the guy has proven himself to be a clown.

The Jets have personnel issues, but their biggest problem seems to be that they are all talk and very little action.

While Steve Spagnuolo didn't work out, I'm glad things happened the way they did.

Jeff Fisher is a real leader.

Rex is a sideshow.

Circus ringleader Rex Ryan has fooled both loyal Jets fans and the NFL by creating an illusion of confidence with his big mouth and consistent trash talking. However, his tricks have become repetitive and expected and are no longer fooling anyone.

I agree but over the yerars, this type of opponent has seemingly given our beloved Rams a hard time. I really would appreciate a non stress a@$ whooping Sunday so I can just sit back and enjoy

I always knew Ryan was a clown. Watching him on Hard Knocks only confirmed that, as has the way he's run the Jets into the ground.

To his clowny credit, he did a decent job with the defense. Spags didn't seem to do well with much at all. It's almost amazing that Rex has lasted this long, but since they went to 2 AFC championship games I guess it would have been hard to justify firing him.

Four years ago, Rex was looking pretty darned good compared to what we had .. Funny how things work out sometimes. I think we are all glad that Fisher is our HC. Kudos to Stan for making it happen !!

The Jets did make the AFC Championship game in spite of Mark Sanchez in his first 2 years so he did something right. His leadership style has backfired on him now that he doesn't have the talented roster he inherited and is no longer winning but he still might have been a good coach for the Rams. He also would not have gotten the same amount of media scrutiny in St. Louis as he does in New York.

That being said the Jets are a mess and I'm very glad that he is coaching the Rams opponent this week rather than the Rams.

If it's one thing I respect nowadays it's someone that can admit they were wrong about something.

No point looking back and second guessing. Rex Ryan certainly looked like a great choice when he led the Jets to 2 consecutive championship games and improved in year two. And the Rams choice of Spags was heralded by many others as being the right hire. Four years later, it's a very different situation for both clubs.

Ryan's problem is twofold. One is his mouth. When you back up the tough talk by winning, you are beloved; when you can't, you're a fool. The Jets have regressed and his boasts about "Super Bowls" and anything else make him look like a buffoon. And two, he coaches in New York. Everything he does is scrutinized to the hilt. His antics would not get nearly as much play in other cities, including St. Louis.

In any event, I never wanted the guy here. I'm not a fan of coaches or players who run their mouths and make spectacles of themselves, and in Ryan I saw a chip off the old block from Buddy. Hopefully we shut him up with a good performance Sunday.
